Priyavratasya priyaputrabhutadagnidhrarajadudito hi nabhih, tvam drishtavanishtadamishtimadhye tavaiva tushtyai kritayajnakarma.

King Nabhi, born of Agnidhra, the dear son of Priyavrata, performed a sacrifice to please you, and in its midst saw you, the giver of all wishes.

Abhishtutastatra munishvaraistvam rajna svatulyam sutamarthyamanah, svayam janishyehamiti bruvanastirodadha barhishi vishvamurte.

Praised there by the great sages and asked by the king for a son equal to you, you said, “I myself will be born,” and vanished from the sacred grass, O Lord whose form is the universe.

Tvayi trilokibhriti rajyabharam nidhaya nabhih saha merudevya, tapovanam prapya bhavannishevi gatah kilanandapadam padam te.

Placing the burden of the kingdom on you, who uphold the three worlds, Nabhi went with Merudevi to the forest of penance, worshipped you, and reached your blissful abode.

Indrastvadutkarshakritadamarshadvavarsha nasminnajanabhavarshe, yada tada tvam nijayogashaktya svavarshamenadvyadadhah suvarsham.

Jitendradattam kamanim jayantimathodvahannatmaratashayopi, ajijanastatra shatam tanujanesham kshitisho bharatograjanma.

Though your heart delighted only in the Self, you married lovely Jayanti, given by the defeated Indra, and had a hundred sons, the eldest of whom was King Bharata.

Navabhavanyogivara navanye tvapalayanbharatavarshakhandan, saika tvashitistava sheshaputrastapobaladbhusurabhuyamiyuh.

Nine became great yogis, nine others ruled regions of Bharatavarsha, and your remaining eighty-one sons became brahmins by the strength of their penance.

Uktva sutebhyotha munindramadhye viraktibhaktyanvitamuktimargam, svayam gatah paramahamsyavrittimadha jadonmattapishachacharyam.

Then, among the great sages, you taught your sons the path to liberation through detachment and devotion, and yourself took up the life of a paramahamsa, living as if dull, mad or possessed.

Paratmabhutopi paropadesham kurvanbhavansarvanirasyamanah, vikarahino vichachara kritsnam mahimahinatmarasabhilinah.

Though you are the Supreme Self, you went on teaching others while everyone drove you away; untouched by it all, absorbed in the boundless joy of the Self, you wandered the whole earth.

Shayuvratam gomrigakakacharyam chiram charannapya param svarupam, davahritangah kutakachale tvam tapanmamapakuru vatanatha.

Long practising the vow of lying still and living like a cow, a deer or a crow, you reached your supreme form, and your body was consumed by a forest fire on Kutaka mountain. Lord of Guruvayur, take away my sufferings.
