Alokya shailoddharanadirupam prabhavamuchchaistava gopalokah, vishveshvaram tvamabhimatya vishve nandam bhavajjatakamanvaprichchhan.

Seeing your great power in lifting the mountain and other deeds, all the cowherds took you to be the lord of the universe and asked Nanda about your birth.

Gargodito nirgadito nijaya vargaya tatena tava prabhavah, purvadhikastvayyanuraga eshamaidhishta tavadbahumanabharah.

Your father told his people of your greatness, as foretold by the sage Garga. Their love for you, already great, grew even more, along with deep reverence.

Then Indra, king of the gods, his pride broken and the truth dawning on him through his humiliation, came with the divine cow, touched your lotus feet with his jewelled crown, and praised you.

Snehasnutaistvam surabhih payobhirgovindanamankitamabhyashinchat, airavatopahritadivyagangapathobhirindropi cha jataharshah.

Surabhi, the divine cow, bathed you in milk flowing with affection and named you Govinda; and Indra, overjoyed, bathed you with heavenly Ganga water brought by Airavata.

Jagattrayeshe tvayi gokuleshe tathabhishikte sati gopavatah, nakepi vaikunthapadepyalabhyam shriyam prapede bhavatah prabhavat.

When you, lord of the three worlds and of Gokula, were consecrated in this way, the cowherd village gained, by your power, a glory not found even in heaven or Vaikuntha.

Kadachidantaryamunam prabhate snayan pita varunapurushena, nitastamanetumagah purim tvam tam varunim karanamartyarupah.

Once, as your father bathed in the Yamuna at dawn, he was carried off by a servant of Varuna. You, who took human form for a purpose, went to Varuna’s city to bring him back.

Sasambhramam tena jaladhipena prapujitastvam pratigrihya tatam, upagatastatkshanamatmageham pitavadat tachcharitam nijebhyah.

Worshipped with great awe by Varuna, lord of the waters, you took your father and returned home at once, and your father told his people all that had happened.

Harim vinishchitya bhavantametan bhavatpadalokanabaddhatrishnan, nirikshya vishno paramam padam taddurapamanyaistvamadidrishastan.

Certain now that you were Hari, they longed to see your abode. Seeing this, O Vishnu, you showed them that supreme abode, so hard for others to reach.

Sphuratparanandarasapravahaprapurnakaivalyamahapayodhau, chiram nimagnah khalu gopasanghastvayaiva bhuman punaruddhritaste.

The cowherds stayed long immersed in that great ocean of liberation, brimming with shining streams of supreme bliss; then you yourself, O infinite one, drew them out again.

Karabadaravadevam deva kutravatare nijapadamanavapyam darshitam bhaktibhajam, tadiha pashuparupi tvam hi sakshat paratma pavanapuranivasin pahi mamamayebhyah.

In which other incarnation did you show your unreachable abode to devotees as plainly as a berry in the palm? So here, as a cowherd, you are clearly the Supreme Self. O dweller in Guruvayur, protect me from illness.
