Sandranandavabodhatmakamanupamitam kaladeshavadhibhyam nirmuktam nityamuktam nigamashatasahasrena nirbhasyamanam, aspashtam drishtamatre punarurupurusharthatmakam brahmatattvam tattavadbhati sakshadgurupavanapure hanta bhagyam jananam.

The reality of Brahman, made of dense bliss and awareness, beyond compare, free of the limits of time and space, ever free, revealed by countless Vedic texts, unclear to mere sight yet the highest goal of life: that very reality shines here in plain view at Guruvayur. What fortune for people!

Evam durlabhyavastunyapi sulabhataya hastalabdhe yadanyat tanva vacha dhiya va bhajati bata janah kshudrataiva sphuteyam, ete tavadvayam tu sthirataramanasa vishvapidapahatyai nishsheshatmanamenam gurupavanapuradhishamevashrayamah.

When something so rare is so easily within reach, if people still worship anything else with body, speech or mind, that is plainly their small-mindedness. As for us, with steady minds we take refuge in this Lord of Guruvayur, the Self of all, to end the world’s suffering.

Sattvam yattatparabhyamaparikalanato nirmalam tena tavadbhutairbhutendriyaiste vapuriti bahushah shruyate vyasavakyam, tatsvachchhatvadyadachchhaditaparasukhachidgarbhanirbhasarupam tasmin dhanya ramante shrutimatimadhure sugrahe vigrahe te.

Vyasa says again and again that your body is made of pure sattva, untouched by the other two qualities, and not of the elements and senses. Being so clear, it reveals unveiled the supreme bliss and awareness within; the blessed delight in this form of yours, sweet to scripture and mind and easy to hold in thought.

Nishkampe nityapurne niravadhi paramanandapiyusharupe nirlinanekamuktavalisubhagatame nirmalabrahmasindhau, kallolollasatulyam khalu vimalataram sattvamahustadatma kasmanno nishkalastvam sakala iti vachastvatkalasveva bhuman.

In the pure ocean of Brahman, unmoving, ever full, boundless, the nectar of supreme bliss, made lovely by countless freed souls merged in it like strings of pearls, sattva is said to be like a rising wave, purer still. You are its very Self; so how are you not beyond parts? Calling you “with parts” only refers to your manifestations, great Lord.

Nirvyaparopi nishkaranamaja bhajase yatkriyamikshanakhyam tenaivodeti lina prakritirasatikalpapi kalpadikale, tasyah samshuddhamamsham kamapi tamatirodhayakam sattvarupam sa tvam dhritva dadhasi svamahimavibhavakuntha vaikuntharupam.

Though you do nothing, unborn Lord, without cause you take on the act called “seeing”; by that alone, at the start of an age, Prakriti, lying merged and all but unreal, rises again. Taking a pure portion of it, sattva that does not veil you, you hold your Vaikuntha form, boundless in the wealth of your glory.

Lord of Guruvayur, I meditate on that form of yours: playful as a fresh rain cloud and a row of kalaya flowers, the very essence of beauty, merit fully embodied for the eyes of the virtuous, Lakshmi’s carefree playground, pouring streams of nectar into the hearts of those who meditate on it.

Kashta te srishticheshta bahutarabhavakhedavaha jivabhajamityevam purvamalochitamajita maya naivamadyabhijane, no chejjivah katham va madhurataramidam tvadvapushchidrasardram netraih shrotraishcha pitva paramarasasudhambhodhipure rameran.

Unconquered one, I once thought your work of creation was harsh, bringing living beings the pain of endless births. Today I see it differently: otherwise how could beings drink in with eyes and ears this sweetest form of yours, soaked in the bliss of awareness, and revel in the flood of the ocean of supreme nectar?

You are always present before those who bow to you, and you keep granting them wealth and wishes, even unasked, and the state dense with supreme bliss. So, Hari, you are a wish-tree within everyone’s reach with endless fruit, yet this crowd of seekers longs in vain for that petty tree in Indra’s garden.

Karunyatkamamanyam dadati khalu pare svatmadastvam visheshadaishvaryadishatenye jagati parajane svatmanopishvarastvam, tvayyuchchairaramanti pratipadamadhure chetanah sphitabhagyastvam chatmarama evetyatulagunaganadhara shaure namaste.

Others, out of kindness, give some lesser wish; you above all give your very Self. Others in the world rule over others by their power; you are lord even of their inmost selves. Blessed beings delight deeply in you, sweet at every step, while you delight in your own Self. Krishna, home of countless virtues, salutations to you.

Aishvaryam shankaradishvaraviniyamanam vishvatejoharanam tejassamhari viryam vimalamapi yasho nisprihaishchopagitam, angasanga sada shrirakhilavidasi na kvapi te sangavarta tadvatagaravasin murahara bhagavachchhabdamukhyashrayosi.

Sovereignty that rules even Shiva and the other lords; might that outshines all who outshine the world; pure fame sung even by those who want nothing; Lakshmi ever at your side; knowledge of all; and no word anywhere of attachment in you. So, Lord of Guruvayur, slayer of Mura, you are the true bearer of the name Bhagavan.
