Pratah smarami bhavabhitiharam suresham gangadharam vrishabhavahanamambikesham, khatvangashulavaradabhayahastamisham samsararogaharamaushadhamadvitiyam.

At dawn I remember the lord of the gods, who takes away the fear of worldly life: Gangadhara, who holds the Ganga, who rides the bull, husband of Ambika, holding skull-staff and trident, his hands granting boons and fearlessness; the one unmatched medicine for the disease of worldly existence.

Pratarnamami girisham girijardhadeham sargasthitipralayakaranamadidevam, vishveshvaram vijitavishvamanobhiramam samsararogaharamaushadhamadvitiyam.

At dawn I bow to Girisha, lord of the mountain, half of whose body is Parvati; the cause of creation, preservation and dissolution, the first god, lord of the universe, who conquers all and delights the mind; the one unmatched medicine for the disease of worldly existence.

Pratarbhajami shivamekamanantamadyam vedantavedyamanagham purusham mahantam, namadibhedarahitam shadabhavashunyam samsararogaharamaushadhamadvitiyam.

At dawn I worship Shiva: the one, infinite and first, known through Vedanta, sinless, the great Person, free of all distinctions like name, untouched by the six changes of birth to death; the one unmatched medicine for the disease of worldly existence.

Pratah samutthaya shivam vichintya shlokatrayam yenudinam pathanti, te duhkhajatam bahujanmasanchitam hitva padam yanti tadeva shambhoh.

Those who rise at dawn, think of Shiva and read these three verses every day leave behind the sorrows gathered over many births and reach Shambhu’s own abode.
