Kaadhalaagik kasindhu kanneer malgi, odhuvaar thamai nanneriku uyppadhu, vedham naanginum meypporulaavadhu, naadhan naamam namachchivaayave.
The name that leads onto the good path those who chant it with love, melting, tears welling in their eyes; the true essence of all four Vedas: the Lord’s name is Namachivaya.
वह नाम जो प्रेम से पिघलकर, आँखों में आँसू भरकर उसे जपने वालों को अच्छे मार्ग पर ले जाता है; चारों वेदों का सच्चा सार: प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Nambuvaar avar naavil navitrinaal, vambu naanmalar vaarmadhu oppadhu, semponaar thilagam ulagukkelaam, namban naamam namachchivaayave.
When those who trust in him say it, it is like honey flowing from fresh, fragrant flowers on their tongues; it is the red-gold mark on the brow of all the worlds: the name of the Lord we trust is Namachivaya.
जब उन पर भरोसा करने वाले इसे बोलते हैं, तो यह उनकी जीभ पर ताज़े सुगंधित फूलों से बहते शहद जैसा है; यह सारे लोकों के माथे का लाल-सुनहरा तिलक है: जिन प्रभु पर हम भरोसा करते हैं उनका नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Nekkul aarvam migapperugi ninaindhu, akku maalai kod angaiyil ennuvaar, thakka vaanavaraath thaguvippadhu, nakkan naamam namachchivaayave.
For those who melt within, their longing swelling, and count it on the rudraksha beads in their palms, it makes them worthy to become gods: the name of the unclad Lord is Namachivaya.
जो भीतर पिघलते हुए, बढ़ती लगन के साथ हथेली में रुद्राक्ष की माला पर इसे गिनते हैं, उन्हें यह देवता बनने योग्य बना देता है: दिगंबर प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Iyaman thoodharum anjuvar insolaal, nayamvandhu odhavallaar thamai nannnaal, niyaman thaan ninaivaarkku iniyaan netri, nayanan naamam namachchivaayave.
Even Yama’s messengers are afraid to approach those who can lovingly chant it in sweet words. The name of the Lord with the eye on his forehead, sweet to those who keep it as their discipline, is Namachivaya.
जो प्रेम से मीठे शब्दों में इसे जप सकते हैं, उनके पास जाने से यम के दूत भी डरते हैं। जो इसे अपना नियम मानते हैं उन्हें प्रिय, माथे पर नेत्र वाले प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Kolvaarenung gunampala nanmaigal, illaarenum iyambuvaraayidin, ellaath theengaiyum neenguvar enbaraal, nallaar naamam namachchivaayave.
Even killers, even those with none of the many virtues, if they chant it, are freed from every evil, it is said: the name of the Good One is Namachivaya.
कहते हैं, हत्यारे भी, और जिनमें कोई गुण न हो वे भी, यदि इसे जपें तो हर बुराई से छूट जाते हैं: उन कल्याणकारी प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Mandharam mana paavangal meviya, bandhanaiyavar thaamum pagarvarel, sindhum valvinai selvamum malgumaal, nandhi naamam namachchivaayave.
If even those bound by sins of the mind as heavy as Mount Mandara say it, their heavy karma falls away and their wealth grows: the name of the blissful Lord is Namachivaya.
मंदराचल जैसे भारी मन के पापों से बँधे लोग भी यदि इसे कहें, तो उनके भारी कर्म झड़ जाते हैं और धन बढ़ता है: आनंदमय प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Naragam ezhpuga naadinaraayinum, uraisey vaayinaraayin uruththirar, viraviye puguviththidum enbaraal, varadhan naamam namachchivaayave.
Even those bound for the seven hells, if their lips speak it, are brought into the company of the Rudras, it is said: the name of the giver of boons is Namachivaya.
कहते हैं, सातों नरकों की ओर जाते लोग भी, यदि उनके होंठ इसे बोलें, तो रुद्रों की संगत में पहुँचा दिए जाते हैं: वरदाता प्रभु का नाम नमः शिवाय है।

Brahma on the lotus and lotus-eyed Vishnu searched for the Lord’s feet and crown, could see nothing at all and were distressed; the name they then chanted is Namachivaya.

Kanji mandaiyar kaiyilun kaiyargal, venjol mindar viravilar enbaraal, vinjai andargal venda amudhu sey, nanjun kandan namachchivaayave.
Those with gruel bowls and those who eat from their hands, harsh-tongued and stubborn, have no part in it, it is said. The Lord who held the poison in his throat and gave the gods nectar when they asked is Namachivaya.
कहते हैं, माँड के कटोरे वाले और हाथ में खाने वाले, कठोर बोली वाले हठी लोग इसमें भाग नहीं पाते। जिन प्रभु ने विष कंठ में रखा और देवताओं के माँगने पर उन्हें अमृत दिया, वे नमः शिवाय हैं।

நந்தி நாமம் நமச்சிவா யவெனும், சந்தை யாற்றமிழ் ஞானசம் பந்தன்சொல், சிந்தை யால்மகிழ்ந் தேத்தவல் லாரெலாம், பந்த பாசம் அறுக்கவல் லார்களே.
Nandhi naamam namachchivaaya enum, sandhaiyaal thamizh gnaanasambandhan sol, sindhaiyaal magizhndhu eththa vallaarelaam, bandha paasam arukka vallaargale.
All who can joyfully praise, with all their mind, these Tamil words of Gnanasambandhar, sung on the blissful Lord’s name Namachivaya, will be able to cut the bonds of attachment.
जो भी ज्ञानसंबंधर के इन तमिल वचनों की, जो आनंदमय प्रभु के नाम नमः शिवाय पर गाए गए हैं, पूरे मन से प्रसन्न होकर स्तुति कर सकते हैं, वे मोह के बंधन काट सकेंगे।
