जय जय सीताराम के, मध्यवासिनी अम्ब।
देहु दर्श जगदम्ब अब, करो न मातु विलम्ब॥Jai jai Sitaram ke, madhyavasini Amb. Dehu darsh Jagdamb ab, karo na matu vilamb.
Victory, victory to you, Mother, who dwell in the midst of Sita and Ram. Jagadamba, show yourself to me now; do not delay, Mother.
सीता-राम के बीच निवास करने वाली हे माँ, आपकी जय हो। हे जगदंबा, अब दर्शन दीजिए, माँ, देर मत कीजिए।

प्रातःकाल उठ जो पढ़े, दुपहरिया या शाम।
दुःख दरिद्रता दूर हों, सिद्धि होय सब काम॥Pratahkal uth jo padhe, dupahariya ya sham. Dukh daridrata door hon, siddhi hoy sab kam.
Whoever reads this on rising in the morning, at midday or in the evening, their sorrow and poverty go away and all their work succeeds.
जो सुबह उठकर, दोपहर या शाम को इसे पढ़ता है, उसके दुःख और दरिद्रता दूर हो जाते हैं और सब काम सिद्ध होते हैं।

जय काली कंकाल मालिनी।
जय मंगला महा कपालिनी॥Jai Kali kankal malini. Jai Mangala maha kapalini.
Victory to Kali, garlanded with bones. Victory to the auspicious one, the great bearer of the skull-bowl.
कंकालों की माला पहनने वाली काली की जय। मंगलमयी महाकपालिनी (खप्पर धारण करने वाली) माँ की जय।

रक्तबीज बधकारिणि माता।
सदा भक्त जनन की सुखदाता॥Raktabeej badhkarini mata. Sada bhakt janan ki sukhdata.
Mother, slayer of the demon Raktabija, you always bring happiness to your devotees.
रक्तबीज का वध करने वाली माता, आप सदा भक्तों को सुख देती हैं।

शिरो मालिका भूषित अंगे।
जय काली जय मद्य मतंगे॥Shiro malika bhushit ange. Jai Kali jai madya matange.
Your body is adorned with a garland of heads. Victory to Kali, victory to you, wild with divine intoxication.
आपके अंग मुंडों की माला से सजे हैं। काली की जय, मद में मतवाली माँ की जय।

हर हृदयारविन्द सुविलासिनि।
जय जगदम्बा सकल दुःख नाशिनि॥Har hridayarvind suvilasini. Jai Jagdamba sakal dukh nashini.
You delight in the lotus of Shiva’s heart. Victory to Jagadamba, Mother of the world, who destroys all sorrow.
आप शिव के हृदय-कमल में आनंद से विराजती हैं। सब दुःखों का नाश करने वाली जगदंबा की जय।

क्रीं कल्याणी दक्षिणाकाली॥Hreem Kali shreem Mahakarali. Kreem Kalyani Dakshinakali.
Kali, invoked with the seed syllable hreem; the great fearsome one, with shreem; the kindly Dakshina Kali, with kreem.
ह्रीं बीज से पूजित काली, श्रीं से महाकराली, और क्रीं से कल्याणी दक्षिणा काली।

जय तारा सुन्दरी महामति॥Jai Kalavati jai Vidyavati. Jai Tara Sundari mahamati.
Victory to the mistress of the arts, victory to the mistress of knowledge. Victory to Tara and Sundari, of great wisdom.
कलाओं की स्वामिनी की जय, विद्या की स्वामिनी की जय। महाबुद्धिमती तारा और सुंदरी की जय।

देहु सुबुद्धि हरहु सब संकट।
होहु भक्त के आगे परगट॥Dehu subuddhi harahu sab sankat. Hohu bhakt ke age paragat.
Give me good sense and take away all troubles; appear before your devotee.
सद्बुद्धि दीजिए और सब संकट हर लीजिए; अपने भक्त के सामने प्रकट होइए।

महा शक्ति जय अपरम्पारे॥Jai Omkare jai hunkare. Maha Shakti jai aparampare.
Victory to you who are the sound Om, victory to you of the fierce roar. Victory to the great power, beyond all limits.
ओंकार-स्वरूपा की जय, हुंकार करने वाली की जय। अपरंपार महाशक्ति की जय।

कमला कलियुग दर्प विनाशिनी।
सदा भक्त जन के भयनाशिनी॥Kamala Kaliyug darp vinashini. Sada bhakt jan ke bhaynashini.
As Kamala you crush the arrogance of the Kali age, and you always destroy the fears of your devotees.
आप कमला हैं, कलियुग का घमंड तोड़ने वाली, और सदा भक्तों का भय मिटाने वाली।

अब जगदम्ब न देर लगावहु।
दुख दरिद्रता मोर हटावहु॥Ab Jagdamb na der lagavahu. Dukh daridrata mor hatavahu.
Now, Mother of the world, do not delay; remove my sorrow and poverty.
हे जगदंबा, अब देर मत कीजिए; मेरा दुःख और दरिद्रता दूर कीजिए।

कालानल समान द्युतिगाता॥Jayati karal Kalika mata. Kalanal saman dyutigata.
Victory to fearsome Mother Kalika, whose body blazes like the fire of cosmic destruction.
भयंकर कालिका माता की जय, जिनका शरीर प्रलय की अग्नि के समान दमकता है।

जय शंकरी सुरेशि सनातनि।
कोटि सिद्धि कवि मातु पुरातनि॥Jai Shankari Sureshi sanatani. Koti siddhi kavi matu puratani.
Victory to Shankari, queen of the gods, the eternal one. Ancient Mother, you grant countless attainments to the poet.
शंकरी, देवताओं की स्वामिनी, सनातनी माँ की जय। हे पुरातन माँ, आप कवि को अनगिनत सिद्धियाँ देती हैं।

कपर्दिनी कलि कल्प बिमोचनि।
जय विकसित नव नलिन बिलोचनि॥Kapardini kali kalp bimochani. Jai vikasit nav nalin bilochani.
You with matted locks free us from the sins of the Kali age. Victory to you, whose eyes are like freshly bloomed lotuses.
जटाधारी माँ, आप कलियुग के पापों से छुड़ाती हैं। नए खिले कमल जैसे नेत्रों वाली माँ की जय।

आनन्द करणि आनन्द निधाना।
देहु मातु मोहि निर्मल ज्ञाना॥Anand karani anand nidhana. Dehu matu mohi nirmal gyana.
You who bring joy, treasure-house of bliss: Mother, give me pure knowledge.
आनंद देने वाली, आनंद की निधि माँ, मुझे निर्मल ज्ञान दीजिए।

करुणामृत सागर कृपामयी।
होहु दुष्ट जन पर अब निर्दयी॥Karunamrit sagar kripamayi. Hohu dusht jan par ab nirdayi.
Ocean of the nectar of compassion, full of grace, now be merciless to the wicked.
करुणा के अमृत की सागर, कृपामयी माँ, अब दुष्टों पर निर्दयी हो जाइए।

सकल जीव तोहि परम पियारा।
सकल विश्व तोरे आधारा॥Sakal jeev tohi param piyara. Sakal vishva tore adhara.
Every living being is most dear to you, and the whole universe rests on you.
सब जीव आपको अत्यंत प्यारे हैं, और सारा विश्व आपके ही आधार पर टिका है।

प्रलय काल में नर्तन कारिणि।
जय जननी सब जग की पालनि॥Pralay kal mein nartan karini. Jai janani sab jag ki palani.
You dance at the time of cosmic dissolution. Victory to the Mother who sustains the whole world.
प्रलय के समय नृत्य करने वाली, सारे जगत का पालन करने वाली जननी की जय।

महोदरी महेश्वरी माया।
हिमगिरि सुता विश्व की छाया॥Mahodari Maheshwari Maya. Himgiri suta vishva ki chhaya.
Great-bellied one, supreme goddess, Maya herself; daughter of the Himalaya, shelter of the universe.
आप महोदरी, महेश्वरी और माया हैं; हिमालय की पुत्री और विश्व की छाया (आश्रय) हैं।

स्वच्छन्द रद मारद धुनि माहीं।
गर्जत तुम्हीं और कोउ नाहीं॥Swachchhand rad marad dhuni mahin. Garjat tumhin aur kou nahin.
In the thunder of battle it is you alone who roar freely, and no one else.
युद्ध के घोर नाद में स्वच्छंद होकर आप ही गरजती हैं, और कोई नहीं।

स्फुरति मणिगणाकार प्रताने।
तारागण तू व्योम विताने॥Sphurati manigana-kar pratane. Taragan tu vyom vitane.
You shine like spreading clusters of jewels; you are the stars across the canopy of the sky.
आप मणियों के समूह की तरह फैलकर चमकती हैं; आकाश के वितान में तारे भी आप ही हैं।

श्री धारे सन्तन हितकारिणि।
अग्नि पाणि अति दुष्ट विदारिणि॥Shri dhare santan hitkarini. Agni pani ati dusht vidarini.
Bearer of fortune, you care for the good of the saints; with fire in your hand, you tear apart the most wicked.
श्री को धारण करने वाली, संतों का हित करने वाली; हाथ में अग्नि लिए आप बड़े-बड़े दुष्टों का संहार करती हैं।

धूम्र विलोचनि प्राण विमोचनि।
शुम्भ निशुम्भ मथनि वरलोचनि॥Dhumra vilochani pran vimochani. Shumbh Nishumbh mathani varlochani.
You took the life of Dhumralochana and crushed Shumbha and Nishumbha, you of beautiful eyes.
आपने धूम्रलोचन के प्राण हर लिए और शुंभ-निशुंभ का मर्दन किया, हे सुंदर नेत्रों वाली।

सहस भुजी सरोरुह मालिनी।
चामुण्डे मरघट की वासिनी॥Sahas bhuji saroruh malini. Chamunde marghat ki vasini.
Thousand-armed one, wearing a garland of lotuses; Chamunda, who dwells in the cremation ground.
हजार भुजाओं वाली, कमलों की माला पहनने वाली; हे चामुंडा, आप श्मशान में वास करती हैं।

खप्पर मध्य सुशोणित साजी।
मारेहु माँ महिषासुर पाजी॥Khappar madhya sushonit saji. Marehu Maa Mahishasur paji.
Your skull-bowl is filled with blood; Mother, you slew the wicked Mahishasura.
आपके खप्पर में रक्त भरा है; माँ, आपने दुष्ट महिषासुर को मारा।

अम्ब अम्बिका चण्ड चण्डिका।
सब एके तुम आदि कालिका॥Amb Ambika Chand Chandika. Sab eke tum Adi Kalika.
Amba, Ambika, fierce Chandika: all are one in you, the primal Kalika.
अंबा, अंबिका, प्रचंड चंडिका, ये सब एक ही हैं; आप ही आदि कालिका हैं।

अजा एकरूपा बहुरूपा।
अकथ चरित्र तव शक्ति अनूपा॥Aja ekroopa bahuroopa. Akath charitra tav shakti anupa.
Unborn, you are one and you are many. Your deeds are beyond words and your power beyond compare.
आप अजन्मा हैं, एक रूप भी और अनेक रूप भी। आपका चरित्र अकथनीय और शक्ति अनुपम है।

कलकत्ता के दक्षिण द्वारे।
मूरति तोर महेशि अपारे॥Kalkatta ke dakshin dvare. Moorati tor Maheshi apare.
At the southern edge of Kolkata stands your image, great goddess, boundless in glory.
कलकत्ता के दक्षिण द्वार पर, हे महेश्वरी, आपकी अपार महिमा वाली मूर्ति विराजती है।

कादम्बरी पानरत श्यामा।
जय मातंगी काम के धामा॥Kadambari panrat Shyama. Jai Matangi kam ke dhama.
Dark Shyama, rapt in drinking the divine wine; victory to Matangi, home of all fulfilled desires.
कादंबरी (दिव्य मधु) के पान में मग्न श्यामा माँ; कामनाओं की धाम मातंगी की जय।

कमलासन वासिनी कमलायनि।
जय श्यामा जय जय श्यामायनि॥Kamalasan vasini Kamalayani. Jai Shyama jai jai Shyamayani.
You who sit on a lotus, home of Lakshmi; victory to Shyama, victory, victory to the dark one.
कमल के आसन पर विराजने वाली कमलायनी; श्यामा की जय, श्यामायनी की जय, जय।

मातंगी जय जयति प्रकृति हे।
जयति भक्ति उर कुमति सुमति हे॥Matangi jai jayati Prakriti he. Jayati bhakti ur kumati sumati he.
Victory to Matangi, victory to you who are Nature herself. Victory to you who place devotion in the heart and turn bad sense into good.
मातंगी की जय, प्रकृति-रूपा माँ की जय। हृदय में भक्ति जगाने वाली और कुमति को सुमति बनाने वाली माँ की जय।

कोटि ब्रह्म शिव विष्णु कामदा।
जयति अहिंसा धर्म जन्मदा॥Koti Brahm Shiv Vishnu kamada. Jayati ahinsa dharm janmada.
You fulfil the wishes of countless Brahmas, Shivas and Vishnus. Victory to you who give birth to the dharma of non-violence.
आप करोड़ों ब्रह्मा, शिव और विष्णु की कामनाएँ पूरी करती हैं। अहिंसा-धर्म को जन्म देने वाली माँ की जय।

जल थल नभमण्डल में व्यापिनि।
सौदामिनि मध्य अलापिनि॥Jal thal nabhmandal mein vyapini. Saudamini madhya alapini.
You pervade water, land and sky; you are the voice that sounds within the lightning.
आप जल, थल और आकाश में व्याप्त हैं; बिजली के बीच गर्जन करने वाली भी आप ही हैं।

झननन तच्छु मरिरिन नादिनि।
जय सरस्वती वीणा वादिनि॥Jhananan tachchhu maririn nadini. Jai Saraswati veena vadini.
You who make the jingling, ringing sounds of music; victory to Saraswati, who plays the veena.
झनन-झनन की मधुर ध्वनि करने वाली; वीणा बजाने वाली सरस्वती की जय।

कलित कण्ठ शोभित नरमुण्डा॥Om aim hreem kleem Chamundayai vichche. Kalit kanth shobhit narmunda.
Om aim hreem kleem Chamundayai vichche: the mantra that invokes Chamunda. Her throat is adorned with a garland of human heads.
ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चामुंडायै विच्चे, यह चामुंडा का आवाहन करने वाला मंत्र है। उनके कंठ में नरमुंडों की माला शोभा देती है।

हिंगलाज विन्ध्याचल वासिनि।
अट्टहासिनि अरु अघन नाशिनि॥Hinglaj Vindhyachal vasini. Attahasini aru aghan nashini.
You dwell at Hinglaj and on the Vindhya hills; you laugh a thunderous laugh and destroy sins.
आप हिंगलाज और विंध्याचल में वास करती हैं; आप अट्टहास करने वाली और पापों का नाश करने वाली हैं।

कितनी स्तुति करूँ अखण्डे।
तू ब्रह्माण्डे शक्तिजितचण्डे॥Kitni stuti karun akhande. Tu brahmande shaktijitchande.
How much can I praise you, undivided one? You are the power that fills the universe, the one who conquered Chanda.
हे अखंड माँ, मैं आपकी कितनी स्तुति करूँ? आप ही ब्रह्मांड में व्याप्त शक्ति हैं, चंड को जीतने वाली।

करहु कृपा सब पे जगदम्बा।
रहहिं निशंक तोर अवलम्बा॥Karahu kripa sab pe Jagdamba. Rahahin nishank tor avalamba.
Show your grace to everyone, Jagadamba, so that, leaning on you, all may live without fear.
हे जगदंबा, सब पर कृपा कीजिए, ताकि आपके सहारे सब निडर रहें।

चतुर्भुजी काली तुम श्यामा।
रूप तुम्हार महा अभिरामा॥Chaturbhuji Kali tum Shyama. Roop tumhar maha abhirama.
Four-armed Kali, you are the dark one, and your form is supremely beautiful.
हे चार भुजाओं वाली काली, आप श्यामा हैं, और आपका रूप अत्यंत मनोहर है।

खड्ग और खप्पर कर सोहत।
सुर नर मुनि सबको मन मोहत॥Khadag aur khappar kar sohat. Sur nar muni sabko man mohat.
A sword and a skull-bowl shine in your hands, and you enchant the hearts of gods, humans and sages alike.
आपके हाथों में खड्ग और खप्पर शोभा देते हैं, और आप देवता, मनुष्य और मुनि सबका मन मोह लेती हैं।

तुम्हरि कृपा पावे जो कोई।
रोग शोक नहिं ताकहँ होई॥Tumhari kripa pave jo koi. Rog shok nahin takahan hoi.
Whoever receives your grace suffers neither illness nor grief.
जिसे आपकी कृपा मिलती है, उसे रोग और शोक नहीं होते।

जो यह पाठ करे चालीसा।
तापर कृपा करहि गौरीशा॥Jo yah path kare Chalisa. Tapar kripa karahi Gaurisha.
Whoever recites this Chalisa receives the grace of Shiva, lord of Gauri.
जो यह चालीसा पढ़ता है, उस पर गौरीपति शिव कृपा करते हैं।
