Sotrunai vedhiyan sodhi vaanavan, potrunaith thirundhadi porundhak kaithozhak, katrunaip poottiyor kadalir paaychchinum, natrunai aavadhu namachchivaayave.
The Lord of the Vedas, companion of words, the radiant heavenly one: when I fold my hands and worship his fine golden feet, then even if I am tied to a stone and thrown into the sea, my good companion is Namachivaya.
वेदों के स्वामी, शब्दों के साथी, तेजस्वी दिव्य प्रभु: जब मैं हाथ जोड़कर उनके सुंदर सुनहरे चरणों की पूजा करता हूँ, तब चाहे मुझे पत्थर से बाँधकर सागर में फेंक दिया जाए, मेरा अच्छा साथी नमः शिवाय है।

பூவினுக் கருங்கலம் பொங்கு தாமரை, ஆவினுக் கருங்கல மரனஞ் சாடுதல், கோவினுக் கருங்கலங் கோட்ட மில்லது, நாவினுக் கருங்கல நமச்சி வாயவே.
Poovinukku arungalam pongu thaamarai, aavinukku arungalam aran anjaadudhal, kovinukku arungalam kottam illadhu, naavinukku arungalam namachchivaayave.
The jewel among flowers is the full-blown lotus; the jewel of the cow is bathing Hara with its five gifts; the jewel of a king is freedom from crookedness; the jewel of the tongue is Namachivaya.
फूलों का गहना खिला हुआ कमल है; गाय का गहना अपने पाँच दानों से हर का अभिषेक है; राजा का गहना टेढ़ेपन से मुक्त होना है; जीभ का गहना नमः शिवाय है।

விண்ணுற வடுக்கிய விறகின் வெவ்வழல், உண்ணிய புகிலவை யொன்று மில்லையாம், பண்ணிய வுலகினிற் பயின்ற பாவத்தை, நண்ணிநின் றறுப்பது நமச்சி வாயவே.
Vinnura adukkiya viragin vevvazhal, unniya pugil avai ondrum illaiyaam, panniya ulaginil payindra paavaththai, nanni nindru aruppadhu namachchivaayave.
When fierce fire enters firewood stacked up to the sky, nothing of it remains; so too, what comes close and cuts away the sins we have piled up in this created world is Namachivaya.

Idukkanpattirukkinum irandhu yaaraiyum, vidukkir piraan endru vinavuvom allom, adukkarkeezhk kidakkinum arulinaam utra, nadukkaththaik keduppadhu namachchivaayave.
Even in trouble we will not beg anyone, asking, ‘Lord, will you free us?’ Even if we lie crushed beneath a heap of rocks, what by grace destroys the fear that makes us tremble is Namachivaya.
संकट में भी हम किसी से गिड़गिड़ाकर नहीं पूछेंगे, ‘प्रभु, क्या आप हमें छुड़ाएँगे?’ चाहे हम पत्थरों के ढेर के नीचे दबे पड़े हों, कृपा से वह डर मिटाने वाला जो हमें कँपाता है, नमः शिवाय है।

வெந்தநீ றருங்கலம் விரதி கட்கெலாம், அந்தணர்க் கருங்கல மருமறை யாறங்கம், திங்களுக் கருங்கலந் திகழு நீண்முடி, நங்களுக் கருங்கல நமச்சி வாயவே.
Vendha neeru arungalam viradhigatkellaam, andhanarkku arungalam arumarai aarangam, thingalukku arungalam thigazhu neenmudi, nangalukku arungalam namachchivaayave.
The jewel of all who keep vows is holy ash; the jewel of Brahmins is the rare Vedas with their six limbs; the jewel of the moon is the Lord’s tall, shining crown; and our jewel is Namachivaya.
व्रत रखने वाले सबका गहना पवित्र भस्म है; ब्राह्मणों का गहना छह अंगों सहित दुर्लभ वेद हैं; चंद्रमा का गहना प्रभु का ऊँचा चमकता मुकुट है; और हमारा गहना नमः शिवाय है।

சலமிலன் சங்கரன் சார்ந்த வர்க்கலால், நலமில னாடொறு நல்கு வானலன், குலமில ராகிலுங் குலத்துக் கேற்பதோர், நலமிகக் கொடுப்பது நமச்சி வாயவே.
Salamilan sankaran saarndhavarkkallaal, nalamilan naadoru nalguvaan nalan, kulamilaraagilung kulaththukkerpadhor, nalamigak koduppadhu namachchivaayave.
Shankara is free of anger; to those who are not his he gives no good, but to those who come to him he gives good every day. Even to those without lineage, what gives abundant good worthy of a noble lineage is Namachivaya.
शंकर क्रोध से रहित हैं; जो उनके नहीं उन्हें वे भला नहीं देते, पर उनकी शरण आने वालों को रोज़ भला देते हैं। कुल न होने वालों को भी ऊँचे कुल के योग्य भरपूर भलाई देने वाला नमः शिवाय है।

வீடினா ருலகினில் விழுமிய தொண்டர்கள், கூடினா ரந்நெறி கூடிச் சென்றலும், ஓடினே னோடிச்சென் றுருவங் காண்டலும், நாடினே னாடிற்று நமச்சி வாயவே.
Veedinaar ulaginil vizhumiya thondargal, koodinaar anneri koodich chendralum, odinen odichchendru uruvang kaandalum, naadinen naaditru namachchivaayave.
The great devotees of this world reached liberation; they gathered and went that way together. I ran, and running after them, saw his form; I sought, and what I found was Namachivaya.
इस संसार के महान भक्तों ने मुक्ति पाई; वे इकट्ठे होकर उसी मार्ग पर साथ चले। मैं दौड़ा, और उनके पीछे दौड़कर मैंने उनका रूप देखा; मैंने खोजा, और जो पाया वह नमः शिवाय था।

Illaga vilakkadhu irulkeduppadhu, sollaga vilakkadhu sodhi ulladhu, pallaga vilakkadhu palarung kaanbadhu, nallaga vilakkadhu namachchivaayave.
The lamp in the house drives away darkness; the lamp within words holds light; the lamp in many places is seen by many; the lamp of a good heart is Namachivaya.
घर का दीपक अँधेरा मिटाता है; शब्दों का दीपक भीतर ज्योति रखता है; अनेक जगहों का दीपक बहुतों को दिखता है; अच्छे हृदय का दीपक नमः शिवाय है।

முன்னெறி யாகிய முதல்வன் முக்கணன், தன்னெறி யேசர ணாத றிண்ணமே, அந்நெறி யேசென்றங் கடைந்த வர்க்கெலாம், நன்னெறி யாவது நமச்சி வாயவே.
Munneri aagiya mudhalvan mukkanan, thanneriye saranaadhal thinname, anneriye sendrangu adaindhavarkkellaam, nanneri aavadhu namachchivaayave.
The three-eyed First Lord is the ancient path; taking refuge in his path alone is sure. For all who go that way and reach him, the good path is Namachivaya.
तीन नेत्रों वाले आदि प्रभु ही प्राचीन मार्ग हैं; केवल उनके मार्ग की शरण लेना निश्चित है। उस मार्ग से जाकर उन तक पहुँचने वाले सबके लिए अच्छा मार्ग नमः शिवाय है।

மாப்பிணை தழுவிய மாதொர் பாகத்தன், பூப்பிணை திருந்தடி பொருந்தக் கைதொழ, நாப்பிணை தழுவிய நமச்சி வாயப்பத், தேத்தவல் லார்தமக் கிடுக்க ணில்லையே.
Maappinai thazhuviya maadhor paagaththan, pooppinai thirundhadi porundhak kaithozha, naappinai thazhuviya namachchivaayap paththu, eththavallaar thamakku idukkan illaiye.
Those who can sing these ten verses on Namachivaya, which cling to the tongue, worshipping with folded hands the fine flower feet of the Lord who shares his body with the Goddess, will have no troubles.
जो जीभ से लिपट जाने वाले नमः शिवाय के इन दस पदों को गा सकते हैं, और हाथ जोड़कर उन प्रभु के सुंदर फूल-से चरणों की पूजा करते हैं जो देवी के साथ अपना शरीर बाँटते हैं, उन्हें कोई संकट नहीं होगा।
