1. जातस्य ध्रुवकुल एव तुङ्गकीर्तेरङ्गस्य व्यजनि सुतः स वेननामा।
   तद्दोषव्यथितमतिः स राजवर्यस्त्वत्पादे विहितमना वनं गतोऽभूत्॥

   Jatasya dhruvakula eva tungakirterangasya vyajani sutah sa venanama, taddoshavyathitamatih sa rajavaryastvatpade vihitamana vanam gatobhut.

   To the renowned King Anga, born in Dhruva’s line, a son named Vena was born. Pained by his son’s wickedness, the noble king set his mind on your feet and went away to the forest.

   ध्रुव के कुल में जन्मे यशस्वी राजा अंग के यहाँ वेन नाम का पुत्र हुआ। पुत्र के दोषों से दुखी होकर वह श्रेष्ठ राजा आपके चरणों में मन लगाकर वन चले गए।

2. पापोऽपि क्षितितलपालनाय वेनः पौराद्यैरुपनिहितः कठोरवीर्यः।
   सर्वेभ्यो निजबलमेव सम्प्रशंसन् भूचक्रे तव यजनान्ययं न्यरौत्सीत्॥

   Papopi kshititalapalanaya venah pauradyairupanihitah kathoraviryah, sarvebhyo nijabalameva samprashamsan bhuchakre tava yajananyayam nyarautsit.

   Though wicked, Vena, harsh and powerful, was placed on the throne by the people to rule the earth. Praising only his own might, he stopped your worship throughout the land.

   पापी होने पर भी कठोर पराक्रमी वेन को प्रजा ने पृथ्वी के पालन के लिए राजा बनाया। सबसे अपने ही बल की प्रशंसा करते हुए उसने पूरे देश में आपकी पूजा रोक दी।

3. सम्प्राप्ते हितकथनाय तापसौघे मत्तोऽन्यो भुवनपतिर्न कश्चनेति।
   त्वन्निन्दावचनपरो मुनीश्वरैस्तैः शापाग्नौ शलभदशामनायि वेनः॥

   Samprapte hitakathanaya tapasaughe mattonyo bhuvanapatirna kashchaneti, tvannindavachanaparo munishvaraistaih shapagnau shalabhadashamanayi venah.

   When a group of sages came to give him good counsel, Vena kept insulting you, saying, ‘There is no lord of the world but me.’ The sages burned him like a moth in the fire of their curse.

   जब मुनियों का समूह उसे हित की बात समझाने आया, तो वेन ‘मेरे सिवा संसार का कोई स्वामी नहीं’ कहकर आपकी निंदा करता रहा। उन मुनियों ने उसे अपने शाप की अग्नि में पतंगे की तरह भस्म कर दिया।

4. तन्नाशात्खलजनभीरुकैर्मुनीन्द्रैस्तन्मात्रा चिरपरिरक्षिते तदङ्गे।
   त्यक्ताघे परिमथितादथोरुदण्डाद्दोर्दण्डे परिमथिते त्वमाविरासीः॥

   Tannashatkhalajanabhirukairmunindraistanmatra chiraparirakshite tadange, tyaktaghe parimathitadathorudandaddordande parimathite tvamavirasih.

   With him gone, the sages, fearing the wicked, churned the body of Vena kept by his mother. From the thigh came one who carried away his sin, and when the arm was churned, you appeared.

   उसके नाश के बाद दुष्टों से डरे मुनियों ने उसकी माता द्वारा सुरक्षित रखे वेन के शरीर का मंथन किया। पहले जंघा से पाप ले जाने वाला निकला, फिर भुजा के मंथन से आप प्रकट हुए।

5. विख्यातः पृथुरिति तापसोपदिष्टैः सूताद्यैः परिणुतभाविभूरिवीर्यः।
   वेनार्त्या कबलितसम्पदं धरित्रीमाक्रान्तां निजधनुषा समामकार्षीः॥

   Vikhyatah prithuriti tapasopadishtaih sutadyaih parinutabhavibhuriviryah, venartya kabalitasampadam dharitrimakrantam nijadhanusha samamakarshih.

   Known as Prithu, praised by bards for the great valour to come, you levelled with your bow the earth, which had hidden away her riches because of Vena’s misrule.

   पृथु नाम से प्रसिद्ध, सूत आदि ने आपके भावी महान पराक्रम की स्तुति की, और आपने अपने धनुष से उस पृथ्वी को समतल किया, जिसने वेन के अत्याचार के कारण अपनी संपदा छिपा ली थी।

6. भूयस्तां निजकुलमुख्यवत्सयुक्तैर्देवाद्यैः समुचितचारुभाजनेषु।
   अन्नादीन्यभिलषितानि यानि तानि स्वच्छन्दं सुरभितनूमदूदुहस्त्वम्॥

   Bhuyastam nijakulamukhyavatsayuktairdevadyaih samuchitacharubhajaneshu, annadinyabhilashitani yani tani svachchhandam surabhitanumaduduhastvam.

   Then you had the earth, in the form of a cow, milked by the gods and others, each with their own chief as the calf, into fitting vessels, for all the food and things they desired.

   फिर आपने गाय रूपी पृथ्वी से देवताओं और अन्य सभी के लिए, उनके मुखिया को बछड़ा बनाकर, उचित पात्रों में मनचाहे अन्न और वस्तुएँ दुहवाईं।

7. आत्मानं यजति मखैस्त्वयि त्रिधामन्नारब्धे शततमवाजिमेधयागे।
   स्पर्धालुः शतमख एत्य नीचवेषो हृत्वाऽश्वं तव तनयात् पराजितोऽभूत्॥

   Atmanam yajati makhaistvayi tridhamannarabdhe shatatamavajimedhayage, spardhaluh shatamakha etya nichavesho hritvashvam tava tanayat parajitobhut.

   Lord of the three worlds, when you began your hundredth horse sacrifice, worshipping yourself, the jealous Indra came in disguise, stole the horse, and was defeated by your son.

   हे त्रिलोकी के स्वामी, जब आपने यज्ञों से स्वयं की आराधना करते हुए सौवाँ अश्वमेध यज्ञ आरंभ किया, तो ईर्ष्यालु इंद्र वेश बदलकर आया, घोड़ा चुराया, और आपके पुत्र से हार गया।

8. देवेन्द्रं मुहुरिति वाजिनं हरन्तं वह्नौ तं मुनिवरमण्डले जुहूषौ।
   रुन्धाने कमलभवे क्रतोः समाप्तौ साक्षात्त्वं मधुरिपुमैक्षथाः स्वयं स्वम्॥

   Devendram muhuriti vajinam harantam vahnau tam munivaramandale juhushau, rundhane kamalabhave kratoh samaptau sakshattvam madhuripumaikshathah svayam svam.

   When Indra stole the horse again and again and you were about to offer him into the sacred fire, Brahma stopped you. At the end of the sacrifice you saw Vishnu, slayer of Madhu, your own self, in person.

   जब इंद्र बार-बार घोड़ा चुराता रहा और आप उसे मुनियों के बीच अग्नि में होम करने वाले थे, तब ब्रह्मा ने आपको रोका। यज्ञ पूरा होने पर आपने स्वयं अपने ही स्वरूप, मधुसूदन विष्णु के साक्षात दर्शन किए।

9. तद्दत्तं वरमुपलभ्य भक्तिमेकां गङ्गान्ते विहितपदः कदापि देव।
   सत्रस्थं मुनिनिवहं हितानि शंसन्नैक्षिष्ठाः सनकमुखान् मुनीन् पुरस्तात्॥

   Taddattam varamupalabhya bhaktimekam gangante vihitapadah kadapi deva, satrastham muninivaham hitani shamsannaikshishthah sanakamukhan munin purastat.

   Receiving from him the boon of single-minded devotion, you lived by the Ganga; once, while guiding the sages at a long sacrifice, you saw before you the sages led by Sanaka.

   उनसे अनन्य भक्ति का वरदान पाकर आप गंगा तट पर रहने लगे; एक बार यज्ञ में बैठे मुनियों को हित का उपदेश देते समय आपने अपने सामने सनक आदि मुनियों को देखा।

10. विज्ञानं सनकमुखोदितं दधानः स्वात्मानं स्वयमगमो वनान्तसेवी।
    तत्तादृक्पृथुवपुरीश सत्वरं मे रोगौघं प्रशमय वातगेहवासिन्॥

    Vijnanam sanakamukhoditam dadhanah svatmanam svayamagamo vanantasevi, tattadrikprithuvapurisha satvaram me rogaugham prashamaya vatagehavasin.

    Holding the wisdom taught by Sanaka and his brothers, you lived in the forest and reached your own Self. O Lord who dwells in Guruvayur, as that same Prithu, quickly calm my flood of illnesses.

    सनक आदि के बताए ज्ञान को धारण करके आप वन में रहे और स्वयं अपनी आत्मा को प्राप्त हुए। हे गुरुवायुर में बसने वाले ईश्वर, उसी पृथु रूप में शीघ्र मेरे रोगों की बाढ़ को शांत करो।
