Nishamayya tavatha yanavartam bhrishamartah pashupalabalikastah, kimidam kimidam katham nvitimah samavetah paridevitanyakurvan.
Hearing the news that you were leaving, the cowherd girls, deeply distressed, gathered together and lamented: “What is this? What is this? How can it be?”

Karunanidhiresha nandasunuh kathamasmanvisrijedananyanathah, bata nah kimu daivamevamasiditi tastvadgatamanasa vilepuh.
“How could Nanda’s son, this treasure of compassion, leave us, who have no one else? Alas, is this our fate?” So they wept, their minds gone with you.

Charamaprahare pratishthamanah saha pitra nijamitramandalaishcha, paritapabharam nitambininam shamayishyan vyamuchah sakhayamekam.
Setting out in the last watch of the night with your father and your friends, you sent one friend to them to soothe the women’s grief.
Achiradupayami sannidhim vo bhavita sadhu mayaiva sangamashrih, amritambunidhau nimajjayishye drutamityashvasita vadhurakarshih.
“I will soon come back to you; through me alone you will know the joy of union; I will quickly bathe you in an ocean of nectar.” With these words you comforted them.

Savishadabharam sayachnamuchchairatiduram vanitabhirikshyamanah, mridu taddishi patayannapangan sabalokrurarathena nirgatobhuh.
Watched from afar by the women, grief-stricken and pleading aloud, you cast soft glances their way and left with Balarama in Akrura’s chariot.
Anasa bahulena vallavanam manasa chanugatotha vallabhanam, vanamartamrigam vishannavriksham samatito yamunatatimayasih.
Followed by the cowherds’ many carts and by the hearts of your beloved gopis, you passed through the forest, its deer grieving and trees drooping, and reached the bank of the Yamuna.
Niyamaya nimajya varini tvamabhivikshyatha rathepi gandineyah, vivashojani kinnvidam vibhoste nanu chitram tvavalokanam samantat.
Akrura, dipping into the water for his daily rites, saw you there, and you were also in the chariot. He was overwhelmed: “What is this, Lord? Seeing you everywhere is a wonder indeed.”
Punaresha nimajya punyashali purusham tvam paramam bhujangabhoge, arikambugadambujaih sphurantam surasiddhaughaparitamaluloke.
Dipping again, the blessed Akrura saw you as the Supreme Person resting on the serpent’s coils, shining with discus, conch, mace and lotus, surrounded by hosts of gods and siddhas.

Sa tada paramatmasaukhyasindhau vinimagnah pranuvan prakarabhedaih, avilokya punashcha harshasindhoranuvritya pulakavrito yayau tvam.
Lost in the ocean of the Supreme Self’s bliss, he praised you in many ways. When the vision faded, still carried on the tide of joy, he came to you with his hair standing on end.

Kimu shitalima mahan jale yatpulakosaviti choditena tena, atiharshaniruttarena sardham rathavasi pavanesha pahi mam tvam.
“Is the water so cold that your hair stands on end?” you asked him, and he was speechless with joy. Seated in the chariot with him, Lord of Guruvayur, protect me.
