1. स्थितः स कमलोद्भवस्तव हि नाभिपङ्केरुहे कुतः स्विदिदमम्बुधावुदितमित्यनालोकयन्।
   तदीक्षणकुतूहलात्प्रतिदिशं विवृत्ताननश्चतुर्वदनतामगाद्विकसदष्टदृष्ट्यम्बुजाम्॥

   Sthitah sa kamalodbhavastava hi nabhipankeruhe kutah svididamambudhavuditamityanalokayan, tadikshanakutuhalatpratidisham vivrittananashchaturvadanatamagadvikasadashtadrishtyambujam.

   Brahma, born of the lotus, seated in the lotus of your navel, could not see where this lotus in the ocean had come from. Eager to find out, he turned his face in every direction and so became four-faced, his eight eyes opening like lotuses.

   आपकी नाभि के कमल पर बैठे कमलजन्मा ब्रह्मा यह नहीं देख पाए कि सागर में यह कमल कहाँ से निकला। यह जानने की उत्सुकता में उन्होंने हर दिशा में मुँह घुमाया और इस तरह खिले कमल जैसी आठ आँखों वाले चार मुख वाले बन गए।

2. महार्णवविघूर्णितं कमलमेव तत्केवलं विलोक्य तदुपाश्रयं तव तनुं तु नालोकयन्।
   क एष कमलोदरे महति निस्सहायो ह्यहं कुतः स्विदिदमम्बुजं समजनीति चिन्तामगात्॥

   Maharnavavighurnitam kamalameva tatkevalam vilokya tadupashrayam tava tanum tu nalokayan, ka esha kamalodare mahati nissahayo hyaham kutah svididamambujam samajaniti chintamagat.

   Seeing only that lotus tossed about on the great ocean, and not your body that supported it, he wondered: ‘Who am I, alone in the heart of this great lotus? Where did this lotus come from?’

   महासागर में डोलता केवल वह कमल देखकर, और उसे सहारा देने वाला आपका शरीर न देखकर, वे सोचने लगे: ‘इस बड़े कमल के भीतर अकेला, असहाय मैं कौन हूँ? यह कमल कहाँ से उत्पन्न हुआ?’

3. अमुष्य हि सरोरुहः किमपि कारणं सम्भवेदिति स्म कृतनिश्चयः स खलु नालरन्ध्राध्वना।
   स्वयोगबलविद्यया समवरूढवान्प्रौढधीः त्वदीयमतिमोहनं न तु कलेवरं दृष्टवान्॥

   Amushya hi saroruhah kimapi karanam sambhavediti sma kritanishchayah sa khalu nalarandhradhvana, svayogabalavidyaya samavarudhavanpraudhadhih tvadiyamatimohanam na tu kalevaram drishtavan.

   Deciding that this lotus must have some source, the wise one went down through the hollow of its stem by the power of his yoga, but he did not see your enchanting body.

   ‘इस कमल का कोई कारण अवश्य होगा,’ ऐसा निश्चय करके वे बुद्धिमान अपने योगबल से कमल की नाल के छेद के रास्ते नीचे उतरे, पर आपका मोहक शरीर नहीं देख पाए।

4. ततस्सकलनालिकाविवरमार्गगो मार्गयन् प्रयस्य शतवत्सरं किमपि नैव सन्दृष्टवान्।
   निवृत्य कमलोदरे सुखनिषण्ण एकाग्रधीः समाधिबलमादधे भवदनुग्रहैकाग्रही॥

   Tatassakalanalikavivaramargago margayan prayasya shatavatsaram kimapi naiva sandrishtavan, nivritya kamalodare sukhanishanna ekagradhih samadhibalamadadhe bhavadanugrahaikagrahi.

   Then, searching every passage of the stem with great effort for a hundred years, he found nothing at all. Returning, he sat at ease in the lotus with a steady mind and took up the power of meditation, intent only on your grace.

   फिर नाल के सब रास्तों में सौ वर्ष तक मेहनत से खोजने पर भी उन्हें कुछ नहीं दिखा। लौटकर कमल के भीतर आराम से बैठकर, एकाग्र मन से, केवल आपकी कृपा की चाह में उन्होंने समाधि का बल धारण किया।

5. शतेन परिवत्सरैर्दृढसमाधिबन्धोल्लसत्प्रबोधविशदीकृतः स खलु पद्मिनीसम्भवः।
   अदृष्टचरमद्भुतं तव हि रूपमन्तर्दृशा व्यचष्ट परितुष्टधीर्भुजगभोगभागाश्रयम्॥

   Shatena parivatsarairdridhasamadhibandhollasatprabodhavishadikritah sa khalu padminisambhavah, adrishtacharamadbhutam tava hi rupamantardrisha vyachashta paritushtadhirbhujagabhogabhagashrayam.

   After a hundred years, his mind made clear by the awakening that came from firm meditation, the lotus-born Brahma, content, saw with his inner eye your wondrous form, never seen before, resting on the coils of the serpent.

   सौ वर्षों की दृढ़ समाधि से जगे ज्ञान से निर्मल हुए कमलजन्मा ब्रह्मा ने संतुष्ट मन से अपनी अंतर्दृष्टि से शेषनाग की कुंडली पर विराजमान आपका पहले कभी न देखा गया अद्भुत रूप देखा।

6. किरीटमुकुटोल्लसत्कटकहारकेयूरयुङ्मणिस्फुरितमेखलं सुपरिवीतपीताम्बरम्।
   कलायकुसुमप्रभं गलतलोल्लसत्कौस्तुभं वपुस्तदयि भावये कमलजन्मने दर्शितम्॥

   Kiritamukutollasatkatakaharakeyurayunmanisphuritamekhalam suparivitapitambaram, kalayakusumaprabham galatalollasatkaustubham vapustadayi bhavaye kamalajanmane darshitam.

   I meditate on that form shown to Brahma: radiant with crown, bracelets, necklaces and armlets, a jewelled girdle and fine yellow silk, glowing like the kalaya flower, the Kaustubha gem shining at the throat.

   ब्रह्मा को दिखाए उस रूप का मैं ध्यान करता हूँ: जो मुकुट, कंगन, हार और बाजूबंद से चमकता है, जिसकी करधनी मणियों से दमकती है, जो सुंदर पीताम्बर पहने है, कलाय फूल जैसी आभा वाला है और जिसके गले में कौस्तुभ चमकता है।

7. श्रुतिप्रकरदर्शितप्रचुरवैभव श्रीपते हरे जय जय प्रभो पदमुपैषि दिष्ट्या दृशोः।
   कुरुष्व धियमाशु मे भुवननिर्मितौ कर्मठामिति द्रुहिणवर्णितस्वगुणबंहिमा पाहि माम्॥

   Shrutiprakaradarshitaprachuravaibhava shripate hare jaya jaya prabho padamupaishi dishtya drishoh, kurushva dhiyamashu me bhuvananirmitau karmathamiti druhinavarnitasvagunabamhima pahi mam.

   ‘Lord of Lakshmi, whose vast glory the Vedas reveal, Hari, victory, victory, Lord! By good fortune you have come before my eyes. Make my mind quickly fit for the work of creating the worlds.’ Praised by Brahma for your greatness in this way, protect me.

   ‘हे लक्ष्मीपति, जिनका अपार वैभव वेद बताते हैं, हे हरि, प्रभु, आपकी जय हो, जय हो! सौभाग्य से आप मेरी आँखों के सामने आए। मेरी बुद्धि को जल्दी जगत रचने में समर्थ बनाइए।’ ब्रह्मा ने इस तरह जिनकी महिमा गाई, वे आप मेरी रक्षा करें।

8. लभस्व भुवनत्रयीरचनदक्षतामक्षतां गृहाण मदनुग्रहं कुरु तपश्च भूयो विधे।
   भवत्वखिलसाधनी मयि च भक्तिरत्युत्कटेत्युदीर्य गिरमादधा मुदितचेतसं वेधसम्॥

   Labhasva bhuvanatrayirachanadakshatamakshatam grihana madanugraham kuru tapashcha bhuyo vidhe, bhavatvakhilasadhani mayi cha bhaktiratyutkatetyudirya giramadadha muditachetasam vedhasam.

   ‘Brahma, receive full and lasting skill to create the three worlds; accept my grace and practise austerity again; and may intense devotion to me, which achieves everything, be yours.’ Saying these words, you filled Brahma’s heart with joy.

   ‘हे विधाता, तीनों लोकों को रचने की पूरी और अटूट क्षमता पाओ; मेरी कृपा स्वीकार करो और फिर से तप करो; और सब कुछ सिद्ध करने वाली मेरी प्रबल भक्ति तुममें हो।’ ये वचन कहकर आपने ब्रह्मा का मन प्रसन्न कर दिया।

9. शतं कृततपास्ततः स खलु दिव्यसंवत्सरानवाप्य च तपोबलं मतिबलं च पूर्वाधिकम्।
   उदीक्ष्य किल कम्पितं पयसि पङ्कजं वायुना भवद्बलविजृम्भितः पवनपाथसी पीतवान्॥

   Shatam kritatapastatah sa khalu divyasamvatsaranavapya cha tapobalam matibalam cha purvadhikam, udikshya kila kampitam payasi pankajam vayuna bhavadbalavijrimbhitah pavanapathasi pitavan.

   Then, after practising austerity for a hundred divine years and gaining more power of austerity and of mind than before, seeing the lotus shaken by the wind on the water, strengthened by your power he drank up both wind and water.

   फिर सौ दिव्य वर्षों तक तप करके, पहले से अधिक तपोबल और बुद्धिबल पाकर, जल में हवा से हिलते कमल को देखकर, आपके बल से बलवान हुए उन्होंने हवा और पानी दोनों को पी लिया।

10. तवैव कृपया पुनः सरसिजेन तेनैव सः प्रकल्प्य भुवनत्रयीं प्रववृते प्रजानिर्मितौ।
    तथाविधकृपाभरो गुरुमरुत्पुराधीश्वर त्वमाशु परिपाहि मां गुरुदयोक्षितैरीक्षितैः॥

    Tavaiva kripaya punah sarasijena tenaiva sah prakalpya bhuvanatrayim pravavrite prajanirmitau, tathavidhakripabharo gurumarutpuradhishvara tvamashu paripahi mam gurudayokshitairikshitaih.

    By your grace he then shaped the three worlds out of that same lotus and began to create living beings. Lord of Guruvayur, so full of such compassion, quickly protect me with glances moist with deep kindness.

    आपकी कृपा से उन्होंने उसी कमल से तीनों लोक रचे और प्रजा की सृष्टि में लग गए। ऐसी अपार कृपा वाले हे गुरुवायुर के स्वामी, गहरी दया से भीगी अपनी दृष्टि से जल्दी मेरी रक्षा करो।
