ಗುಮ್ಮನ ಕರೆಯದಿರೆ

1. ಗುಮ್ಮನ ಕರೆಯದಿರೆ ಅಮ್ಮ ನೀನು, ಗುಮ್ಮನ ಕರೆಯದಿರೆ.

   Gummana kareyadire amma neenu, gummana kareyadire.

   Don’t call the bogeyman, mother, please don’t call the bogeyman.

   माँ, हौवे को मत बुलाओ, हौवे को मत बुलाओ।

2. ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇದ್ದೇನು ಅಮ್ಮಿಯ ಬೇಡೆನು, ಮಮ್ಮು ಉಣ್ಣುತೇನೆ ಅಮ್ಮ ಅಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

   Summane iddenu ammiya bedenu, mammu unnutene amma aluvudilla.

   I’ll be quiet, I won’t ask for milk, I’ll eat my food, mother, I won’t cry.

   मैं चुप रहूँगा, दूध नहीं माँगूँगा, खाना खा लूँगा, माँ, रोऊँगा नहीं।

3. ಹೆಣ್ಣುಗಳಿರುವಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ, ಕಣ್ಣು ಮುಚ್ಚುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆ, ಚಿಣ್ಣರ ಬಡಿಯೆನು ಅಣ್ಣನ ಬೈಯೆನು, ಬೆಣ್ಣೆಯ ಬೇಡೆನು ಮಣ್ಣು ತಿನ್ನುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

   Hennugaliruvallige hogi avara, kannu muchchuvudillave, chinnara badiyenu annana baiyenu, benneya bedenu mannu tinnuvudilla.

   I won’t go where the girls are and cover their eyes, will I? I won’t hit the other children, won’t scold my brother, won’t ask for butter, won’t eat mud.

   मैं लड़कियों के पास जाकर उनकी आँखें नहीं मूँदूँगा। बच्चों को नहीं मारूँगा, भैया को नहीं डाँटूँगा, मक्खन नहीं माँगूँगा, मिट्टी नहीं खाऊँगा।

4. ಬಾವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೆ ಕಾಣೆ ಅಮ್ಮ ನಾನು, ಹಾವಿನೊಳಾಡೆ ಕಾಣೆ, ಆವಿನ ಮೊಲೆಯೂಡೆ ಕರುಗಳ ಬಿಡೆ ನೋಡೆ, ದೇವರಂತೆ ಒಂದು ಠಾವಿಗೆ ಕೂಡುವೆ.

   Bavige hoge kane amma nanu, havinolade kane, avina moleyude karugala bide node, devarante ondu thavige kuduve.

   I won’t go near the well, mother, I won’t play with snakes; I won’t suckle at the cows or let the calves loose, see; I’ll sit still in one place like a god.

   माँ, मैं कुएँ के पास नहीं जाऊँगा, साँपों से नहीं खेलूँगा; गायों का थन नहीं चूसूँगा, बछड़ों को नहीं खोलूँगा, देखो; भगवान की मूर्ति की तरह एक जगह बैठा रहूँगा।

5. ಮಗನ ಮಾತನು ಕೇಳುತ ಗೋಪೀದೇವಿ, ಮುಗುಳುನಗೆಯ ನಗುತ, ಜಗದೊಡೆಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರವಿಠಲನ, ಬಿಗಿದಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಳು ಮೋಹದಿಂದಾಗ.

   Magana matanu keluta Gopeedevi, mugulunageya naguta, jagadodeya Shri Purandaravitthalana, bigidappikondalu mohadindaga.

   Hearing her son’s words, Gopi Devi (Yashoda) smiled softly and hugged Sri Purandara Vitthala, lord of the world, tightly with love.

   बेटे की बातें सुनकर गोपी देवी (यशोदा) मंद-मंद मुस्काईं और जगत के स्वामी श्री पुरंदर विट्ठल को प्यार से कसकर गले लगा लिया।
