O Lord of Deivanai, whose holy smile is like a row of pearls! O spear-bearer, Saravana, seed of liberation, supreme guru, as the devotees chant! You taught the first of the Vedas to three-eyed Shiva while Brahma, Vishnu and the hosts of gods worshipped your feet. Will there come a day when you lovingly protect me and grant me the truth praised by Vishnu, the green rain cloud, who shot arrows so Ravana’s ten heads rolled, churned the sea with a single mountain, turned broad daylight into night with his discus, and drove the chariot for his devotee?

Thiththiththeya oththap paripura nirththappadham vaiththup bayiravi thikkotka nadikkak kazhugodu kazhudhaadath, thikkuppari attap bayiravar thokkuththogu thokkuth thogudhogu chithrap pavurikkuth thirigadaga enavodhak, koththup parai kottak kalamisai kukkukkugu kukkuk kugugugu kuththip pudhai pukkup pidiyena mudhukoogai, kotputrezha natpatru avunarai vettip paliyittuk kulagiri kuththuppada oththup porava perumaale.

As Bhairavi danced, setting down her anklet-bound feet in time and turning to every direction, and ghouls danced with the vultures; as the eight Bhairavas of the directions called out the rhythms of the wondrous dance; as drums beat in clusters on the battlefield and old owls rose hooting as if to say ‘stab, bury, go in, seize!’, you cut down the hostile demons as an offering and fought so the great mountain was pierced. O great Lord!
