வாழ்க அந்தணர் வானவ ரானினம், வீழ்க தண்புனல் வேந்தனு மோங்குக, ஆழ்க தீயதெல் லாமர னாமமே, சூழ்க வையக முந்துயர் தீர்கவே.
Vaazhga andhanar vaanavar aaninam, Veezhga thanpunal vendhanum onguga, Aazhga theeyadhellaam Aran naamame, Soozhga vaiyagamum thuyar theergave.
Long live the brahmins, the gods and the cattle. May cool rain fall and the king prosper. May all evil sink away; may the name of Hara surround the world, and may the world's suffering end.
ब्राह्मण, देवता और गौएँ सुखी रहें। शीतल वर्षा हो और राजा समृद्ध हो। सारी बुराई डूब जाए; हर (शिव) का नाम संसार को घेरे रहे, और जगत के दुःख दूर हों।

He is rarely seen, holds fire in his hand, rides the bull he loves, has a dark throat and lives in the cremation ground; yet he is the great one. Who can know his nature?
उनके दर्शन दुर्लभ हैं, हाथ में अग्नि है, प्रिय वृषभ पर सवार होते हैं, कंठ नीला है और श्मशान में रहते हैं; फिर भी वही महान हैं। उनके स्वभाव को कौन जान सकता है?

வெந்த சாம்பல் விரையெனப் பூசியே, தந்தை யாரொடு தாயிலர் தம்மையே, சிந்தியா வெழு வார்வினை தீர்ப்பரால், எந்தை யாரவ ரெவ்வகையார் கொலோ.
Vendha saambal viraiyenap poosiye, Thandhaiyaarodu thaayilar thammaiye, Sindhiyaa ezhuvaar vinai theerpparaal, Endhaiyaar avar evvagaiyaar kolo.
He smears burnt ash on himself as if it were perfume; he has neither father nor mother. He ends the karma of those who rise thinking of him. What kind of being is he, my father?
वह जली राख को सुगंध की तरह लगाते हैं; उनके न पिता हैं न माता। जो उनका चिंतन करते हुए उठते हैं, उनके कर्म वह मिटा देते हैं। मेरे पिता वह किस प्रकार के हैं?

ஆட்பா லவர்க்கருளும் வண்ணமு மாதி மாண்பும், கேட்பான் புகிலள வில்லை கிளக்க வேண்டா, கோட்பா லனவும் வினையுங் குறுகாமை யெந்தை, தாட்பால் வணங்கித் தலைநின் றிவைகேட்க தக்கார்.
Aatpaalavarkkarulum vannamum aadhi maanbum, Ketpaan pugil alavillai kilakka vendaa, Kotpaalanavum vinaiyum kurugaamai endhai, Thaatpaal vanangith thalainindru ivai ketka thakkaar.
If one sets out to hear how he graces those who serve him and how great the First One is, there is no end to it, and no need to explain. Those who bow at my father's feet, so that the planets and karma cannot come near, are the ones fit to hear these things.
वह अपने सेवकों पर कैसे कृपा करते हैं और आदिदेव की महिमा कितनी है, यह सुनने बैठें तो कोई अंत नहीं, समझाने की ज़रूरत भी नहीं। जो मेरे पिता के चरणों में नमन करते हैं, ताकि ग्रह और कर्म पास न आएँ, वही इन्हें सुनने योग्य हैं।

ஏதுக்க ளாலு மெடுத்த மொழியாலு மிக்குச், சோதிக்க வேண்டா சுடர்விட்டுள னெங்கள் சோதி, மாதுக்க நீங்க லுறுவீர் மனம்பற்றி வாழ்மின், சாதுக்கண் மிக்கீரிறையே வந்து சார்மின்களே.
Edhukkalaalum edutha mozhiyaalum mikkuch, Chodhikka vendaa sudarvittulan engal Jodhi, Maadhukka neengal uruveer manampatri vaazhmin, Saadhukkan mikkeer iraiye vandhu saarmingale.
There is no need to test him too much with arguments or quoted words; our Light is right there, shining. You who want to be free of great sorrow, hold him in your mind and live. You who are rich in goodness, come at once and take refuge in him.
तर्कों या उद्धृत वचनों से उन्हें बहुत परखने की ज़रूरत नहीं; हमारी ज्योति वहीं प्रकाशित है। जो महान दुःख से मुक्त होना चाहते हैं, उन्हें मन में थामकर जियो। हे सज्जनो, तुरंत आकर उनकी शरण लो।

ஆடும் மெனவும் மருங்கூற்ற முதைத்து வேதம், பாடும் மெனவும் புகழல்லது பாவநீங்கக், கேடும் பிறப்பும் மறுக்கும் மெனக்கேட் டீராகில், நாடுந் திறத்தார்க் கருளல்லது நாட்ட லாமே.
Aadum enavum marungootram udhaitthu Vedham, Paadum enavum pugazhalladhu paavaneengak, Kedum pirappum marukkum enak ketteeraagil, Naadum thiratthaarkku arulalladhu naattalaame.
People praise him as the one who dances, who kicked Death aside, who sings the Vedas. If you have heard that he removes sin and ends ruin and rebirth, what but his grace can be set before those who seek him?
लोग उनकी स्तुति करते हैं कि वह नृत्य करते हैं, उन्होंने यम को लात मारी, वह वेद गाते हैं। यदि तुमने सुना है कि वह पाप मिटाते हैं और विनाश तथा पुनर्जन्म का अंत करते हैं, तो खोजने वालों के सामने उनकी कृपा के सिवा और क्या रखा जा सकता है?

கடிசேர்ந்த போது மலரான கைக்கொண்டு நல்ல, படிசேர்ந்த பால்கொண்டங் காட்டிடத் தாதை பண்டு, முடிசேர்ந்த காலையற வெட்டிட முக்கண் மூர்த்தி, அடிசேர்ந்த வண்ணம் மறிவார் சொலக்கேட்டு மன்றே.
Kadisherndha podhu malaraana kaikkondu nalla, Padisherndha paalkondangaattidath thaadhai pandu, Mudisherndha kaalai ara vettida mukkan moortthi, Adisherndha vannam arivaar solak kettum andre.
Long ago a boy took fragrant fresh flowers and good milk to bathe the Lord, and when his father kicked the offering aside, the boy cut off his father's leg. We have heard from those who know how the three-eyed Lord then took that boy to his feet.
बहुत पहले एक बालक सुगंधित ताज़े फूल और अच्छा दूध लेकर प्रभु का अभिषेक कर रहा था, और जब उसके पिता ने उसे लात मार दी, तो बालक ने पिता का पैर काट दिया। जानकारों से हमने सुना है कि तब त्रिनेत्र प्रभु ने उस बालक को अपने चरणों में स्थान दिया।

வேத முதல்வன் முதலாக விளங்கி வையம், ஏதப் படாமை யுலகத்தவ ரேத்தல் செய்யப், பூத முதல்வன் முதலே முதலாப் பொலிந்த, சூத னொலிமாலை யென்றே கலிக்கோவை சொல்லே.
Vedha mudhalvan mudhalaaga vilangi vaiyam, Edhap padaamai ulagatthavar etthal seiyap, Bootha mudhalvan mudhale mudhalaap polindha, Soodhan olimaalai endre kalikkovai solle.
He shines as the first of the Vedas, so that the world may come to no harm and its people may praise him; the lord of all beings stands first of all. Speak of this as a garland of sounding verse.
वह वेदों के आदि बनकर प्रकाशित हैं, ताकि संसार को हानि न हो और लोग उनकी स्तुति करें; सब प्राणियों के स्वामी सबसे पहले हैं। इसे ध्वनि-छंदों की माला के रूप में कहो।

பாராழி வட்டம் பகையா னலிந்தாட்ட வாடிப், பேராழி யானதிடர் கண்டருள் செய்தல் பேணி, நீராழி விட்டேறி நெஞ்சிடங் கொண்ட வர்க்குப், போராழி யீந்த புகழும் புகழுற்ற தன்றே.
Paaraazhi vattam pagaiyaal nalindhaatta vaadip, Peraazhiyaanadhu idar kandarul seidhal penip, Neeraazhi vittu eri nenjidam kondavarkkup, Poraazhi eendha pugazhum pugazhutradhu andre.
When the world was ravaged by enemies and suffering, Vishnu of the great discus saw its distress and longed to help; leaving the ocean, he made Shiva the home of his heart, and Shiva gave him the war discus. That glory too is famous.
जब संसार शत्रुओं से त्रस्त होकर दुखी था, तब महान चक्रधारी विष्णु ने उसका कष्ट देखा और सहायता करनी चाही; क्षीरसागर छोड़कर उन्होंने शिव को हृदय में बसाया, और शिव ने उन्हें युद्ध-चक्र दिया। यह यश भी प्रसिद्ध है।

மாலா யவனும் மறைவல்ல நான்மு கனும், பாலாய தேவர் பகரில் லமு தூட்டல் பேணிக், காலாய முந்நீர் கடைந்தார்க் கரிதா யெழுந்த, ஆலால முண்டங்கம ரர்க்கருள் செய்த தாமே.
Maalaayavanum marai valla naanmuganum, Paalaaya dhevar pagaril amudhoottal penik, Kaalaaya munneer kadaindhaarkku aridhaai ezhundha, Aalaalam undu amararkku arul seidhadhaame.
When Vishnu, Brahma learned in the Vedas and the other gods wanted to taste nectar and churned the ocean, the halahala poison rose up, too much for them; he drank it and so showed his grace to the gods.
जब विष्णु, वेदों के ज्ञाता ब्रह्मा और बाकी देवताओं ने अमृत पाने की इच्छा से सागर मथा, तो हालाहल विष उठा, जो उनके लिए असहनीय था; शिव ने उसे पीकर देवताओं पर कृपा की।

அற்றன்றி யந்தண் மதுரைத் தொகை யாக்கினானும், தெற்றென்று தெய்வந் தெளியார் கரைக்கோலை தெண்ணீர்ப், பற்றின்றிப் பாங்கெதிர்வி னூரவும் பண்பு நோக்கில், பெற்றொன் றுயர்த்த பெருமான் பெருமானு மன்றே.
Atrandri andhan Madhuraith thogai aakkinaanum, Thetrendru dheivam theliyaar karaikkolai thenneerp, Patrindrip paangedhir vinooravum panbu nokkil, Petrondru uyarttha Perumaan perumaanum andre.
And in fair Madurai, when those who did not clearly know the true God set their palm leaves on the clear water, this leaf, with nothing to hold it, floated upstream against the current. Consider it: is this not the greatness of the Lord who raised the bull banner?
और सुंदर मदुरै में, जब सच्चे ईश्वर को स्पष्ट न जानने वालों ने अपने ताड़पत्र निर्मल जल में डाले, तब यह पत्र बिना किसी सहारे धारा के विरुद्ध ऊपर बहा। सोचो: क्या यह वृषभ-ध्वज वाले प्रभु की महिमा नहीं है?

நல்லார்கள் சேர்புகலி ஞானசம் பந்தனல்ல, எல்லார்களும்பரவு மீசனை யேத்து பாடல், பல்லார் களும் மதிக்கப் பாசுரஞ் சொன்ன பத்தும், வல்லார்கள் வானோ ருலகாளவும் வல்ல ரன்றே.
Nallaargal ser Pugali Gnaanasambandhan nalla, Ellaargalum paravum eesanai etthu paadal, Pallaargalum madhikkap paasuram sonna patthum, Vallaargal vaanor ulagaalavum vallar andre.
Jnanasambandar of Pugali, home of the good, sang these ten verses in praise of the Lord whom all extol, to be honoured by many. Those who master them will surely be able to rule the world of the gods.
सज्जनों के निवास पुगलि के ज्ञानसंबंदर ने सबके पूज्य प्रभु की स्तुति में ये दस पद गाए, जिनका बहुत लोग आदर करें। जो इनमें निपुण होते हैं, वे निश्चय ही देवलोक पर राज करने में समर्थ होंगे।
