Svayambhuvo manuratho janasargashilo drishtva mahimasamaye salile nimagnam, srashtaramapa sharanam bhavadanghrisevatushtashayam munijanaih saha satyaloke.

Then Svayambhuva Manu, eager to bring forth people, saw the earth sunk before its time in the waters. With the sages he sought refuge in the Creator in Satyaloka, whose heart was content from serving your feet.

Kashtam prajah srijati mayyavanirnimagna sthanam sarojabhava kalpaya tatprajanam, ityevamesha kathito manuna svayambhurambhoruhaksha tava padayugam vyachintit.

“Alas, just as I bring forth beings, the earth has sunk. Lotus-born one, make a place for them.” Told this by Manu, Brahma meditated on your feet, lotus-eyed Lord.

Ha ha vibho jalamaham nyapibam purastadadyapi majjati mahi kimaham karomi, ittham tvadanghriyugalam sharanam yatosya nasaputatsamabhavah shishukolarupi.

“Alas, Lord! I drank up the waters before, yet even now the earth is sinking. What shall I do?” As he took refuge at your feet in this way, you came forth from his nostril as a tiny boar.

Angushthamatravapurutpatitah purastadbhuyotha kumbhisadrishah samajrimbhathastvam, abhre tathavidhamudikshya bhavantamuchchairvismeratam vidhiragatsaha sunubhih svaih.

You sprang out before him the size of a thumb, then swelled to the size of an elephant. Seeing you like this in the sky, Brahma and his sons were filled with wonder.

Kosavachintyamahima kitirutthito me nasaputatkimu bhavedajitasya maya, ittham vichintayati dhatari shailamatrah sadyo bhavankila jagarjitha ghoraghoram.

“Who is this boar of unimaginable might that rose from my nostril? Could this be the magic of the unconquered Lord?” As the creator wondered, you at once grew as big as a mountain and let out a terrifying roar.

Tam te ninadamupakarnya janastapahsthah satyasthitashcha munayo nunuvurbhavantam, tatstotraharshulamanah parinadya bhuyastoyashayam vipulamurtiravatarastvam.

Hearing your roar, the beings of the higher worlds and the sages of Satyaloka sang your praise. Delighted by their hymns, you roared again and, vast in form, plunged into the waters.

Urdhvaprasariparidhumravidhutaroma protkshiptavaladhiravanmukhaghoraghonah, turnapradirnajaladah parighurnadakshna stotrinmunin shishirayannavateritha tvam.

Your smoke-grey bristles stood up and shook, your tail was raised, your fierce snout pointed down; you tore swiftly through the clouds and descended, your rolling eyes cooling the sages who praised you.

Antarjalam tadanu sankulanakrachakram bhramyattimingilakulam kalushormimalam, avishya bhishanaravena rasatalasthanakampayanvasumatimagaveshayastvam.

Then you entered the waters, crowded with crocodiles, swirling with great whales and wreathed in muddy waves; your fearsome roar shook the dwellers of Rasatala as you searched for the earth.

Drishtvatha daityahatakena rasatalante samveshitam jhatiti kutakitirvibho tvam, apatukanaviganayya surarikhetan damshtrankurena vasudhamadadhah salilam.

Lord, seeing that the wretched demon had hidden her at the bottom of Rasatala, you, the wondrous boar, ignored the demons rushing at you and playfully lifted the earth on the tip of your tusk.

Abhyuddharannatha dharam dashanagralagnamustankurankita ivadhikapivaratma, uddhutaghorasalilajjaladherudanchan kridavarahavapurishvara pahi rogat.

Lifting the earth, you looked like a mighty boar with a sprout of grass caught on its tusk, rising from the ocean whose dreadful waters you had churned. Lord in your playful boar form, protect me from illness.
