Vrajeshvarah shaurivacho nishamya samavrajannadhvani bhitachetah, nishpishtanishsheshatarum nirikshya kanchitpadartham sharanam gatastvam.

Hearing Vasudeva’s words, Nanda, lord of Vraja, hurried home with a fearful heart. On the way he saw every tree crushed flat by some huge body, and in his mind he took refuge in you.

Nishamya gopivachanadudantam sarvepi gopa bhayavismayandhah, tvatpatitam ghorapishachadeham dehurviduretha kutharakrittam.

Hearing from the gopis what had happened, all the cowherds, dazed with fear and wonder, chopped up with axes the body of the terrible demoness you had felled and burned it far away.

As if telling the leading cowherds, “The reward of touching my body is not far off; in a moment you too may have it,” you made Putana fragrant.

Dine dinetha prativriddhalakshmirakshinamangalyashato vrajoyam, bhavannivasadayi vasudeva pramodasandrah parito vireje.

From then on, day after day, its wealth growing and its countless blessings never fading, Vraja shone all around, brimming with joy, because you lived there, Vasudeva.

Griheshu te komalarupahasamithah kathasankulitah kamanyah, vritteshu krityeshu bhavannirikshasamagatah pratyahamatyanandan.

In their homes the lovely women chattered to one another about your tender form and smile, and once their chores were done they came every day to see you and were filled with delight.

Aho kumaro mayi dattadrishtih smitam kritam mam prati vatsakena, ehyehi mamityupasarya panim tvayisha kim kim na kritam vadhubhih.

“Oh, the child looked at me!” “The little one smiled at me!” “Come, come to me,” they said, holding out their hands. What did the women not do for you, Lord?

    Bhavadvapuhsparshanakautukena karatkaram gopavadhujanena, nitastvamatamrasarojamalavyalambilolambatulamalasih.

Passed from hand to hand by the cowherd women eager to touch you, you looked like a bee swaying along a garland of reddish lotuses.

Nursing you in her lap, gazing at your face and laughing, what height of joy did Yashoda not reach? O Hari, you who are such, protect me from illness.
