Ramasakhah kvapi dine kamada bhagavan gato bhavanvipinam, sunubhirapi gopanam dhenubhirabhisamvrito lasadveshah.

One day, Lord who fulfils all wishes, you went to the forest with your friend Balarama, beautifully dressed and surrounded by the cowherd boys and the cows.

Sandarshayan balaya svairam vrindavanashriyam vimalam, kandiraih saha balairbhandirakamagamo vatam kridan.

Showing Balarama the pure beauty of Vrindavan at leisure, you came playing with the stick-carrying boys to the Bhandiraka banyan tree.

    Tavattavakanidhanasprihayalurgopamurtiradayaluh, daityah pralambanama pralambabahum bhavantamapede.

Just then a heartless demon named Pralamba, eager to kill you, took the form of a cowherd and came up to you, the long-armed Lord.

Janannapyavijananniva tena samam nibaddhasauhardah, vatanikate patupashupavyabaddham dvandvayuddhamarabdhah.

Though you knew who he was, you acted as if you didn’t and made friends with him, and near the banyan tree you began a game of paired wrestling set up by the clever cowherds.

Gopan vibhajya tanvan sangham balabhadrakam bhavatkamapi, tvadbalabhirum daityam tvadbalagatamanvamanyatha bhagavan.

Dividing the cowherds into two teams, Balarama’s and yours, you let the demon, who feared your strength, join Balarama’s side, Lord.

Kalpitavijetrivahane samare parayuthagam svadayitataram, shridamanamadhatthah parajito bhaktadasatam prathayan.

In the game the winner rode on the loser’s back. You let yourself be beaten and carried Shridama, your dearest friend on the other side, showing that you are the servant of your devotees.

Evam bahushu vibhuman baleshu vahatsu vahyamaneshu, ramavijitah pralambo jahara tam durato bhavadbhitya.

As many boys carried others and were carried this way, all-pervading Lord, Pralamba, beaten by Balarama, carried him off far away, afraid of you.

Tvadduram gamayantam tam drishtva halini vihitagarimabhare, daityah svarupamagadyadrupat sa hi balopi chakitobhut.

Seeing him carrying him far from you, Balarama made himself heavy; the demon then took his true form, at which even mighty Balarama was startled.

Uchchataya daityatanostvanmukhamalokya durato ramah, vigatabhayo dridhamushtya bhrishadushtam sapadi pishtavanenam.

From the demon’s great height Balarama caught sight of your face in the distance, lost his fear, and with a firm fist at once crushed the wicked demon.

Hatva danavaviram praptam balamalilingitha premna, tavanmilatoryuvayoh shirasi krita pushpavrishtiramaraganaih.

When the demon warrior lay dead and Balarama came back, you embraced him lovingly, and as the two of you met, the gods showered flowers on your heads.

Alambo bhuvananam pralambam nidhanamevamarachayan, kalam vihaya sadyo lolambaruche hare hareh kleshan.

Support of the worlds, who arranged Pralamba’s death like this, O Hari, dark as a bee, take away my troubles at once, without delay.
