Vaikuntha vardhitabalotha bhavatprasadadambhojayonirasrijatkila jivadehan, sthasnuni bhuruhamayani tatha tirashcham jatirmanushyanivahanapi devabhedan.

O Lord of Vaikuntha, then Brahma, the lotus-born, his strength increased by your grace, created the bodies of living beings: the unmoving trees and plants, the species of animals, the races of humans and the many kinds of gods.

Mithyagrahasmimatiragavikopabhitirajnanavrittimiti panchavidham sa srishtva, uddamatamasapadarthavidhanadunastene tvadiyacharanasmaranam vishuddhyai.

He created the fivefold ignorance: delusion, ego, attachment, anger and fear. Troubled at having made such dark things, he took up the remembrance of your feet to purify himself.

Tavatsasarja manasa sanakam sanandam bhuyassanatanamunim cha sanatkumaram, te srishtikarmani tu tena niyujyamanastvatpadabhaktirasika jagrihurna vanim.

Then from his mind he created Sanaka, Sanandana, the sage Sanatana and Sanatkumara. But when he asked them to help with creation, they, delighting only in devotion to your feet, did not accept his word.

Tavatprakopamuditam pratirundhatosya bhrumadhyatojani mrido bhavadekadeshah, namani me kuru padani cha ha virinchetyadau ruroda kila tena sa rudranama.

As he held back the anger that rose in him, from between his brows was born Shiva, a part of you. At once he cried, O Brahma, give me names and places; and because he cried, he was named Rudra.

Ekadashahvayataya cha vibhinnarupam rudram vidhaya dayita vanitashcha dattva, tavantyadatta cha padani bhavatpranunnah praha prajavirachanaya cha sadaram tam.

Brahma gave Rudra eleven names and forms, gave them beloved wives and as many dwelling places, and, prompted by you, respectfully asked him to create beings.

Rudrabhisrishtabhayadakritirudrasanghasampuryamanabhuvanatrayabhitachetah, ma ma prajah srija tapashchara mangalayetyachashta tam kamalabhurbhavadiritatma.

When the three worlds began to fill with the fearsome hosts of Rudras that Rudra created, Brahma grew afraid and, inspired by you, told him: No, do not create beings; go and do penance for the good of all.

Tasyatha sargarasikasya marichiratristatrangirah kratumunih pulahah pulastyah, angadajayata bhrigushcha vasishthadakshau shrinaradashcha bhagavan bhavadanghridasah.

Then from the limbs of Brahma, eager to create, were born Marichi, Atri, Angiras, the sage Kratu, Pulaha, Pulastya, Bhrigu, Vasishtha and Daksha, and Narada, O Lord, the servant of your feet.

Dharmadikanabhisrijannatha kardamam cha vanim vidhaya vidhirangajasankulobhut, tvadbodhitaih sanakadakshamukhaistanujairudbodhitashcha virarama tamo vimunchan.

Creating Dharma and others, Kardama, and Vak, the goddess of speech, Brahma was overcome by passion; but awakened by his sons, Sanaka, Daksha and others whom you had enlightened, he stopped and cast off that darkness.

Vedanpurananivahanapi sarvavidyah kurvannijananaganachchaturananosau, putreshu teshu vinidhaya sa sargavriddhimaprapnuvamstava padambujamashritobhut.

From his four faces Brahma brought forth the Vedas, the Puranas and all branches of learning, and entrusted the growth of creation to those sons; when it still did not increase, he took refuge at your lotus feet.

Janannupayamatha dehamajo vibhajya stripumsabhavamabhajanmanutadvadhubhyam, tabhyam cha manushakulani vivardhayamstvam govinda marutapuresha nirundhi rogan.

Then, knowing the way, Brahma divided his body into male and female, as Manu and his wife; and through them you made the human race grow. O Govinda, Lord of Guruvayur, keep away my illnesses.
