Giver of boons, those devotees who chant your names, plunged in an ocean of joy, who remember your form, tell the stories of your virtues and go about delighting in you alone: I count them truly blessed, for they have gained every wish.

Alas, Vishnu, my mind is troubled by illness and is not drawn to the joy of serving your feet. Have mercy. Delighting in remembering your lotus feet, I will live somewhere alone, singing your names again and again.

If your mercy arises, what can embodied beings not gain? How small a thing then is ending my many troubles! In this world, which of your devotees are not free of sorrow day and night, liberated, unattached and moving happily?

Great sages like Narada, well known in the world, whose inner lives are hidden, freed of pain by remembering your lotus feet, roam freely, O Lord, immersed in the ever-shining flow of supreme consciousness, bliss and oneness. What more can be said?

May my devotion to you grow strong; that alone will end all my troubles; I have not a speck of doubt. If not, then Vyasa’s words, your own words and the words of the Vedas would all be false, no better than talk in the street.

Devotion to you is sweet from the very start, through the joy of your virtues; once it takes hold, it ends all suffering, and in the end it brings to the heart the great bliss of oneness that comes with pure awakening. What else is there to pray for?

Shake off my troubles. Let my feet delight in reaching your temple, my hands in your worship, my eyes in seeing your form, my nose in smelling the tulsi at your feet and my ears in your lovely stories.

Lord of Guruvayur, even those turned away from you are happy, yet I, who love you, suffer greatly. What is this? Let there be no ill fame for you, giver of boons: ease my load of illness and quickly make me a jewel among your devotees, O tamer of Kamsa.
