Anandarupa bhagavannayi tevatare prapte pradiptabhavadanga niriyamanaih, kantivrajairiva ghanaghanamandalairdyamavrinvati viruruche kila varshavela.

O Lord whose form is bliss, when the time of your incarnation came, the rainy season shone, covering the sky with masses of clouds, as if with streams of radiance flowing from your shining body.

Ashasu shitalatarasu payodatoyairashasitaptivivasheshu cha sajjaneshu, naishakarodayavidhau nishi madhyamayam kleshapahastrijagatam tvamihavirasih.

When the directions were cooled by rain from the clouds, when good people were longing for their hopes to come true, at midnight as the moon was rising, you who remove the troubles of the three worlds appeared here.

Balyasprishapi vapusha dadhusha vibhutirudyatkiritakatakangadaharabhasa, shankharivarijagadaparibhasitena meghasitena parilesitha sutigehe.

In a form that, though a child’s, held divine splendour, shining with crown, bracelets, armlets and necklace, radiant with conch, discus, lotus and mace, and dark as a rain cloud, you shone in the birth chamber.

    Vakshahsthalisukhanilinavilasilakshmimandakshalakshitakatakshavimokshabhedaih, tanmandirasya khalakamsakritamalakshmimunmarjayanniva virejitha vasudeva.

O Vasudeva, with the shy, varied glances of Lakshmi, who rests happily on your chest, you shone as if wiping away the misfortune that wicked Kamsa had brought upon that house.

Shauristu dhiramunimandalachetasopi durasthitam vapurudikshya nijekshanabhyam, anandabashpapulakodgamagadgadardrastushtava drishtimakarandarasam bhavantam.

Vasudeva, seeing with his own eyes your form, which stays far even from the minds of steadfast sages, choked with tears of joy and thrilling all over, praised you, the nectar of his eyes.

Deva prasida parapurusha tapavallinirlunadatra samanetra kalavilasin, khedanapakuru kripagurubhih katakshairityadi tena muditena chiram nutobhuh.

O God, be gracious, Supreme Person, sickle that cuts the creeper of suffering, impartial-eyed, delighting in your play: take away our sorrows with your merciful glances. With such words the joyful Vasudeva praised you for long.

Matra cha netrasalilastritagatravallya stotrairabhishtutagunah karunalayastvam, prachinajanmayugalam pratibodhya tabhyam maturgira dadhitha manushabalavesham.

Your mother too, her body bathed in tears, praised your virtues in hymns. Then you, the home of compassion, reminded them both of their two former births, and at your mother’s word took the form of an ordinary human child.

Then, prompted by you, Vasudeva, son of Shura, took you in his hands to exchange you with Nanda’s daughter: you whom the noble hold in their hearts, lovely as a young swan upon a lotus.

Jata tada pashupasadmani yoganidra nidravimudritamathakrita pauralokam, tvatpreranatkimiva chitramachetanairyaddvaraih svayam vyaghati sanghatitaissugadham.

At that time Yoganidra was born in the cowherd’s house and put the townspeople into deep sleep. By your will the tightly bolted doors opened by themselves; what wonder is that?

Sheshena bhuriphanavaritavarinatha svairam pradarshitapatho manidipitena, tvam dharayan sa khalu dhanyatamah pratasthe soyam tvamisha mama nashaya rogavegan.

Then Shesha shielded off the rain with his many hoods and, lighting the way with his jewels, showed the path; carrying you, that most blessed one set out. O Lord, you who are that same child, destroy the force of my illnesses.
