Followed by the cowherds’ many carts and by the hearts of your beloved gopis, you passed through the forest, its deer grieving and trees drooping, and reached the bank of the Yamuna.

Akrura, dipping into the water for his daily rites, saw you there, and you were also in the chariot. He was overwhelmed: “What is this, Lord? Seeing you everywhere is a wonder indeed.”

Dipping again, the blessed Akrura saw you as the Supreme Person resting on the serpent’s coils, shining with discus, conch, mace and lotus, surrounded by hosts of gods and siddhas.

“Is the water so cold that your hair stands on end?” you asked him, and he was speechless with joy. Seated in the chariot with him, Lord of Guruvayur, protect me.
