Garalam taralanalam purastajjaladherudvijagala kalakutam, amarastutivadamodanighno girishastannipapau bhavatpriyartham.
First the deadly poison Kalakuta, like leaping fire, poured out of the ocean. Shiva, lord of the mountain, moved by the gods’ praises, drank it to please you.
Vimathatsu surasureshu jata surabhistamrishishu nyadhastridhaman, hayaratnamabhudathebharatnam dyutarushchapsarasah sureshu tani.
As the gods and demons churned on, the cow Surabhi appeared, and you, Lord of the three worlds, gave her to the sages. Then came the finest horse, the finest elephant, the heavenly tree and the apsaras; these you gave to the gods.
Jagadisha bhavatpara tadanim kamaniya kamala babhuva devi, amalamavalokya yam vilolah sakalopi sprihayambabhuva lokah.
Lord of the world, then appeared the lovely Goddess Lakshmi, devoted to you alone. Seeing her purity, the whole world was stirred and longed for her.
Tvayi dattahride tadaiva devyai tridashendro manipithikam vyatarit, sakalopahritabhishechaniyairrishayastam shrutigirbhirabhyashinchan.
As she had given her heart to you, Indra at once offered the Goddess a jewelled seat, and the sages bathed her with sacred waters that everyone brought, chanting Vedic hymns.
Abhishekajalanupatimugdhatvadapangairavabhushitangavallim, manikundalapitachelaharapramukhaistamamaradayonvabhushan.
Her slender form, already graced by your charmed glances that followed the flowing bath water, was then adorned by the gods with jewelled earrings, yellow silk, necklaces and more.
Varanasrajamattabhringanadam dadhati sa kuchakumbhamandayana, padashinjitamanjunupura tvam kalitavrilavilasamasasada.
Holding the wedding garland humming with bees, moving slowly, her anklets tinkling sweetly, she came to you, shy and graceful.
Girisha druhinadisarvadevan gunabhajopyavimuktadoshaleshan, avamrishya sadaiva sarvaramye nihita tvayyanayapi divyamala.
Weighing up Shiva, Brahma and all the gods, who though virtuous were not free of every flaw, she placed the divine garland on you, who are perfect in every way.
Urasa tarasa mamanithainam bhuvananam jananimananyabhavam, tvadurovilasattadikshanashri parivrishtya paripushtamasa vishvam.
You quickly honoured her, mother of the worlds, devoted to you alone, by taking her to your heart. Her gracious glances, shining from your chest, rained down and nourished the whole world.
Atimohanavibhrama tadanim madayanti khalu varuni niragat, tamasah padavimadastvamenamatisammananaya mahasurebhyah.
Then Varuni, goddess of wine, came forth, bewitching and intoxicating. With a great show of honour you gave her, the path to darkness, to the great demons.
Tarunambudasundarastada tvam nanu dhanvantarirutthitomburasheh, amritam kalashe vahankarabhyamakhilartim hara marutalayesha.
Then you, lovely as a fresh rain cloud, rose from the ocean as Dhanvantari, carrying the nectar of immortality in a pot in both hands. Lord of Guruvayur, take away all suffering.
