అభివాఞ్ఛితం విధాతుం కృతమతిరపి తా జగాథ వామమివ॥Upayatanam sudrisham kusumayudhabanapatavivashanam, abhivanchhitam vidhatum kritamatirapi ta jagatha vamamiva.
Though you meant to grant the wishes of the lovely-eyed women who had come, overcome by love, you spoke to them as if to turn them away.
గగనగతం మునినివహం శ్రావయితుం జగిథ కులవధూధర్మమ్।
ధర్మ్యం ఖలు తే వచనం కర్మ తు నో నిర్మలస్య విశ్వాస్యమ్॥Gaganagatam muninivaham shravayitum jagitha kulavadhudharmam, dharmyam khalu te vachanam karma tu no nirmalasya vishvasyam.
So that the sages watching from the sky could hear, you spoke of the duty of married women. Your words were proper, but the ways of the pure one are not ours to judge.
ఆకర్ణ్య తే ప్రతీపాం వాణీమేణీదృశః పరం దీనాః।
మా మా కరుణాసిన్ధో పరిత్యజేత్యతిచిరం విలేపుస్తాః॥Akarnya te pratipam vanimenidrishah param dinah, ma ma karunasindho parityajetyatichiram vilepustah.
Hearing your discouraging words, the doe-eyed women, utterly forlorn, wept for a long time: “No, no, ocean of compassion, do not abandon us!”

Moved by their weeping and pleading, Murari, you began to play with them as they wished on the sands of the Yamuna.

On the lovely paths along the Yamuna, glistening with streams of moonlight, you sat on a seat spread from the gopis’ shawls.

With sweet teasing talk, holding hands, joyful kisses and close embraces, you stirred the women deeply.

Lord, the promise you had made on the day you took their clothes, you now kept for those lovely-browed women, lost in love.

Embracing you, Nanda’s son, most beautiful in all three worlds, beads of sweat on your brow and your lotus face smiling softly like jasmine, the young women were filled with joy.

In separation you burn like hot coals; in union you are love itself; and yet even in union you burn all the more. How wondrous!

I worship you, whose heart longed for Radha’s close embrace. Lord of Guruvayur, calm all my illnesses.
